“Quality Hotel & Service”

Fairmont Singapore

5 of 5 stars
Lancashire, England
Mar 29, 2008

Stopped fot 7 nights at end of February.
Overall excellent place to stay. Not cheap but represented value for money. Opted to pay for an upgrade to South Tower room with tropical raindrop shower - well worth it. Superb room and bathroom. Turn down service adding fresh towels twice a day added to the quality. Great location.
Could not fault it. Special mention for the hotel doorman, wonderful warm friendly welcome each time we returned to the hotel.

CHECK IN/OUT

Was swift and efficient nothing to complain about. Staff were very friendly and helpful

SERVICES:

I could not fault a single member of staff they were all very friendly and enthusiastic. They were all very knowledgeable and nothing was too much bother.

SPA:

The spa is a Willow stream spa, which I believe is the signature spa of Fairmont, and its defiantly does not disappoint. It was a very relaxing experience, a little costly but you pay for what you get!

My group all had the de stress massage and all commented on how much they enjoyed the experience and how professionally it was conducted.

There are outdoor pools, they were busy bust still enjoyable.

LOCATION:

Very good, right in the heart of Singapore with all the amenities that you could possibly want right on your doorstep.

The hotel is also located virtually in a transport hub with busses and trains and major roads all located very close by.

ROOM:

Was modern and well maintained, with all the mod cons that you would expect from a newer hotel in Asia. Plasma screen tv’s electric curtains etc. Bathroom was very nice with an amazing ‘rainfall shower’.

Room had high quality toiletries as you would expect.

Always had a very good night’s sleep linen was of high quality as were the selection of pillows that were provided (Feather and synthetic)

All rooms have small balconies that allow you to enjoy the atmosphere of the city.

More than ample working space.

No problems with noise.

HOUSEKEEPING:

This was an area that I felt needed some improvement. The room was in need of a good hovering under the bed etc and the windows did need washed.

For the 3 nights that we were in the hotel our toiletries were never replenished which was disappointing .

The room was always cleaned before 12 which was good. All in all the problems that we encountered were nothing too serious and when brought to the hotels attention was dealt with promptly.

RESTAURANTS & BARS:

Where to start there are so many outlets to choose from! The hotel is actually part of a large complex that also includes the Swissotel which is a staggering 70 floors high. Right at the top you have a selection of fantastic bars which have impressive views of the city.

However the fine dinning restaurant equinox was a disappointment. The food was good but the service was poor. It took over 30 minutes for our drinks to arrive which is completely unacceptable in an outlet of this calibre. Here’s hoping that this was a one of event. It is worth having dinner in equinox if not for the views alone. Reservations are a must.

We did have room service in the mornings because of the nature of our trip. The selection is good however we did have a few problems getting the right drinks on two mornings… possible language problems… they did however amend the problems very swiftly.

Tried out some of the other bars located throughout the complex and there is something for every age group including a nightclub (Ink)

We had dinner in Prego one night and the staff again were very attentive and professional. They had all the Italian classics that you would expect and they were all of a very high quality. I would recommend this outlet for any occasion lunch, dinner or just a light snack.

OVERALL:

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Fairmont Singapore. It has all the facilities that you would expect from a city hotel and an outstanding team of staff that will endeavour to make your stay as relaxing as possible. It is on the more expensive side but as always you do get what you pay for and I would highly recommend this hotel.

“Good Location”

Fairmont Singapore

2 of 5 stars
Sydney
Mar 28, 2008

We stayed in a standard room at corporate rates. The room was elegant and well appointed however the bathroom was in need of refurbishment, particularly the tiles. We had a balcony overlooking a large courtyard garden but was unable to use it as the air conditioning unit from the adjoining shopping centre was far too noisy.
The staff gave great service but there was no tour desk and it was really geared around business guests rather than tourists.

“NIce Amenities and Pool Area”

Fairmont Singapore

3 of 5 stars
Auckland
Mar 27, 2008

Just checking-out of this hotel at the moment and thought I'd take a minute to write a review...

Likes
- Great bathroom amenities from
- Nice sunny pool area with two large pools
- On top of the Raffles Plaza shopping centre
- You can charge your room when dining at the Swissotel and Raffles hotels next door

Dislikes
- Very small rooms for the price
- Rooms could do with a makeover (eg old carpet etc)
- Some of the Fairmont President's Club benefits unavailable (eg Aveda Travel Kits)
- Fairly average housekeeping (eg replacement shampoo and soap etc just thrown onto the bathroom bench top)

Overall
Probably overpriced for what it is, if you get a good deal I'd recommend it though. Staff are very friendly though especially Raj at the President's Club desk and the location is good with an MRT station just downstairs and Suntec city a 5min walk away.

“Excellent...!”

Fairmont Singapore

Mar 26, 2008

I had read some reviews so made sure i booked my room in the North tower and once i got tot he check in desk i was told that we had been upgraded to a junior penthouse suite, not sure if this was completely random or because we were on our honeymoon, either way it was a nice surprise, a minute later the person checking me in said oh i am sorry sir i made a mistake you were not upgraded toa junior penthouse suite but a penthouse suite! So up we wentm nit sure what to expect, the room was an apartment, we had 2 sitting areas, a huge dingin table, remote control curtains all round, huge bathroom, extra storage room, it was an amazing surprise and balconies all round with a beautiful view as we were on the top floor of the hotel, i then regretted that we were only there for 2nights! The hotel staff were most helpful with any information we needed or any assistance, i didn't experience the $5 charge for the texi service we would just go to the front of the hotel and wait for a taxi, and there was no extra charge we knew of, also the hotel is right on top of a mall, and the bar makes some pretty interesting cocktails, you have the famous long bar across the road and a whole bnch of other bars and restaurants a couple od minutes away, over all i was very happy with the location and helpfulnes of the staff, i would highly reccommend this hotel although i am not sure how the south tower is as i had made sure i was booked in the north tower as was told it was a little dated...
