Not being my number 1 choice for my stay in Singapore I ended up booking Furama since the other hotels I fancied were all fully booked at the time I made reservation.
The location is pretty good if you want to explore Chinatown. Chinatown MRT station is 2 minutes away and you can also walk to Clarke Quay or Boat Quay (loads of restaurants and bars there) in 5-10 minutes. Getting to Orchard Road or Little India you would have to take the very convenient and comfortable MRT though.
The check-in was quick and efficient. The room was a little small but OK. Much to my disappointment, the minibar was empty on arrival. When roomservice was in to bring some missing towels I asked about it and they said that is correct so and I should order any drink through roomservice. I tried it out later and they brought drinks within a few minutes, though after ordering a pitcher of ice water they just brought a small glass full.
The bathroom was fine, offering a shower cabin and a bathtub, well lit and clean. The room also had a safe and TV set with very limited selection of programs (like 8 or so, only some in english).
The breakfast we had was a little downturn. We came in late and they said they close breakfast in 30 minutes. After filling my plate with some egg and bacon, they started to clear the buffet already. When I wanted some fruit it was all gone already (10 minutes after entering the breakfast room). I asked for some fruit and they brought it in from the kitchen but I would have rather selected it myself.
There is a Computer in the lobby to access the internet at pretty high rates, dont know about WiFi access.
The hotel seems to be the crew Hotel for Cathay flight personnel since there were plenty of them at my checkout which is why it took so long to complete check out.
Would I go here again? Well, I guess I rather try out some other Hotel in the same price range.
