The hotel is above average for Puerto Montt and the location is great. It's within site of the main square and ocean side walkway with shopping and cafes all within walking distance. There are no deluxe grand hotels in the city, typical of the USA, and this hotel seems to be one of P. Montt's best.
The lobby is almost reminiscent of a lodge, warm and inviting with large windows looking out to the ocean.
I stayed in two different hotels (la peninsula) in P. Montt. The Don Vicente made me feel the most comfortable. Although the staff in both hotels seemed a little cold or maybe shy. I feel that the language barrier as a lot to do with this. Not many speak English with fluency in P. Montt.
I had a corner mini suite with a very small balcony looking out over the fountain in the city square and within sight of the main ocean front street. I'm a country person, so the city sounds bothered me the first couple nights as I'm used to total silence at night. Also, Chileans eat late and party late so the city is very alive at 11pm-1am. I suggest asking for a room on the other side of the hotel.
The mini suite was typical of an oversized room with a sitting area including a sofa and television all within sight of the bed. The linens were fresh and comfortable, the room was clean and airy. The bathroom was good sized, older fixtures but clean and very comfortable. If returning to Puerto Montt I would book this hotel again.
