“Decent hotel but small bed”

Hotel Orly

Hotel is nice, and not large. Small restaurant/bistro downstairs had pretty good, albeit a tad pricey, food. Breakfast, included in the room rate, was fine. This part of Providencia is not particulary historic, but is pleasant, with lots of restaurants, and a Metro station nearby. We did hear of others getting better rates at other area hotels, but were not terribly displeased at the rate. Paid for a room with a Queen-size bed, but it seemed more like a double bed to both my wife and myself. Based on reviews, I did ask for a room towards the back, away from street noise (street is not all that noisy, it turns out), and got one facing a quiet courtyard, but unfortunately next to the elevator shaft, which was noisy especially in the evening (though not late at night). Hotel was full so we could not switch rooms. Hotel arranged for car to the arirport. This was more expensive than a taxi, but convenient for an early morning flight.

“Best value in South America”

After nearly a month in South America, it's odd that the best hotel of my trip, is also the least expensive. This is a cozy victorian style hotel, with smaller rooms, but exquisitely adorned. Great lighting, quiet, great location; if you like the botiques vs. the big chains, then this one is for you!

“Good spot”

Chile, and the Hotel Orly, have a European 'feel', principally because Chile welcomed immigrants from many countries. Orly's rooms feel european, especially in size! Seriously, it's a fine hotel, located in a fine area. Several small restaurants nearby and the subway stop is only a couple of blocks, which can take you anywhere in Santiago. The river is only a block from the hotel, along with its extensive park. There's a large shopping area nearby. We were entertained for dinner at one of the nearby sidewalk cafes by Santiago's version of a New Orleans jazz band!
If you are arriving for a cruise don't expect to check into your room until the afternoon, as the departing cruise crowd all want to check out late. The front desk doubles as the concierge and can handle all of your questions. Very nice place at a very nice price.

“Spent Christmas Day Here - Was Not Disappointed”

Hotel Orly

San Francisco

I stayed here due to the overwhelming praise on Trip Advisor and was not disappointed. We were here Christmas Day so were a bit concerned about whether anything would be open!

Hotel was clean, and in a great location.
Cab ride from the aiport to the hotel was not too long. But it was cheaper to get a cab at the airport than use the hotel's driver service.

We walked from the hotel to the place where you pick up the cable car to get to San Cristobal hill which overlooks the city, then took the funicular down and walked back along the main avenue in a few hours. It's also near to the metro. Seems like a very safe part of town, near to restaurants (some of which were even open on Christmas Day)

Staff was friendly and helpful and set up a cab for us to get to the airport early. There were two computers available with internet.

We didn't have time for breakfast because we caught an early flight down to Punta Arenas the next morning but it looked like it would be decent.

“Only if you came to Chile to meet Americans”

The Hotel Orly is a very nice hotel in a good location with many restaurants close by. The front desk was helpful and efficient. And I rated it as such. That being said, I would not stay there again, because when my wife and I travel, we enjoy mixing with locals and other international visitors. The Orly apparently has built a large following of cruise people, because during the 4 nights we spent at the Orly, everyone we met was on a cruise either just arriving from Buenos Aires or leaving to sail to Buenos Aires. And everyone was either American or Canadian. So I can understand why so many reviews say it "felt like home." Fortuneately this was our last hotel at the end of a 45 day trek in southern South America and Antarctica, so it was not a big deal. But everyone should be aware of this situation.
