“Very Confortable”

A very good hotel to stay in Lima if you are just passing by from one city to another or for business. The food is delicious and the hotel has all the services as a European hotel. The rooms are spacious, very clean, enormous bath. The building is all new and a bit far from the historical center but in one of the best distrits of the city.
If I´m back to Lima I´ll be back!

“Nice but noisy”

Melia Lima

First, about us. We have traveled the WORLD. We have been to every corner and have seen everything staying at only the very best hotels. OK, not really. Not even close. But we have been to the Melia Lima and it's top shelf! We really enjoyed our stay at the Melia. The other reviews are accurate...the food, the friendly staff, the really nice clean rooms, etc. Our only advise would be to ask for a room away from the street. They have single pane windows and the traffic is 24 hours. The staff accommodated us the best they could in finding a non-smoking room away from the street (they have smoking and non-smoking floors). Best to get this worked out before you arrive as they do book up. If for some reason we should find ourselves in Lima again(after all we do travel the WORLD), we would love to stay at the Melia Lima.

Oh, one suggestion. Dine at La Rosa Nautica. It's in Miraflora on the beach. The food and service are really good. Enjoy a Pisco Sour!

“Melia is Just Fine”

Melia Lima

4 of 5 stars

My stay at the Melia was just fine. This is probably one of the nicer hotels in Lima. The rooms are clean and nice, in line with what you would expect at a good hotel, even some free bottled water was provided the first night (nice touch). Staff is courteous and generally nice folks.

Breakfast buffet is quite nice, a substantial assortment of local breads as well as traditional American/European fare - you are sure to find something to satisfy you. There is an internet cafe on the second floor, you may have to ask someone at the front desk to let you in depending on the time (and they will gladly accomodate). There is also a quite nice bar located towards the top floor - do go up and have a drink in the evening and enjoy the view. The swimming pool is nothing much, a very small thing right outside the restaurant window and is surrounded closely by the tall hotel walls, so it's basically a the bottom of a "concrete canyon" - don't imagine you will while away a pleasant afternoon by the pool but it seems ok for a quick dip for the motivated.

Across the street there are some small stores, a pharmacy and some small family-run grocery stores so at least you can pick up water or some snacks. Other than that you will have to take a taxi to anywhere since this hotel is somewhat isolated. The hotel taxis are $6 (18 soles) to Miraflores. You can hail a cab on the street probably for 4 soles, but the hotel taxi has the virture of a snappy driver that speaks enough English to understand you, plus a nice clean car, plus you can relax secure in the knowledge you are not about to be kidnapped or robbed (which, incidentally, CAN happen in the street cabs). So on balance the 18 soles doesn't seem so bad for the unescorted, does it?

In my opinion, for those with business in San Isidro or those on a quick layover on the way to machu picchu, this hotel is fine. But if you are in Lima just to have fun, you may be better off in one of the Miraflores hotels much closer to the action. On the other hand this hotel does have the virtue of being located in a quiet neighborhood, so if the cab rides don't bother you, this could work fine as a quiet retreat.

“Great Place (Baloo, Penwortham)”

Melia Lima

Oct 13, 2007

We stayed here for 2 nights at the start of a touring holiday in South America. The whole experience was great. A modern clean hotel (unlike some we were to stop at later) friendly and attentive staff to whom nothing was to much trouble. The buffet breakfast showed immagination with different things on the days we were there. Admittedly it's position is not great but at little cost you can get a taxi anywhere. Would stay there again when in the city.

We read all the great reviews and booked this hotel when we had one night in Lima before going to Cusco en route to Machu Picchu. It is a perfectly okay hotel for this purpose but we were expecting more from all the great reviews. It was a fine layover hotel but nothing to get excited about.
