“Disappointing at best”

Antigua Miraflores Hotel

2 of 5 stars
New York
May 27, 2008

We had booked this hotel for 2 nights, although we only stayed for one. Our flight (LIM to JFK) did not leave till 11:50 p.m. so we thought it was worth the extra $$ to have a room for the day while we explored the neighborhood.

Of all the hotels in which we had stayed during our trip throughout Peru, this was the most disappointing. Stayed at room #24 which is at the top floor. Hallway carpet smelt of urine. In-room carpet felt tacky and smelt moldy. Towels and bedsheets were threadbare. I think this was characterized as a 3-4 star hotel, but it truly felt more like a hostel! Breakfast is not buffet style, which was disappointing. You could choose from 6 different pre-set breakfasts, all of which we rather stingy.

Location wasn't good either. If you'd like to be closer to the ocean and the new mall (Larcomar), then don't book this hotel.

Staff was adequate, if a little jaded.

Although there was nothing earth-shatteringly bad about our experience, we just expected a little more - like a non-smelly hallway?

Would not recommend and would not return.

“Good Hotel”

We stayed there for 3 nights, in the begining of April.
Stayed in the Colonial section of the hotel (99 USD double room).

Very nice hotel, quite spacious room. Very quiet. Nice breakfast.
It is really safe neighbourhood.
Free internet in the reception.

5 minutes walk to central plaza (Kenedy square)
10 minutes to the sea (and all the famous restaurants)
10 minutes walk to the Pyramid Ruins.

Do not expect a 5* hotel.
I do recomend it.

“Decent hotel, great location”

Antigua Miraflores Hotel

3 of 5 stars
Orlando, Florida
Apr 21, 2008

The hotel was very pretty, with a great lobby area and pretty front grounds, and a beautiful courtyard that we looked out on. The room was basic, but fine. The bed was pretty comfortable and the bathroom was clean with a hot shower. It was easy walking distance to everything in Miraflores and on a street that was quiet and seemed to be very safe. We walked around at night several times with no problems and no real concerns.

The front desk staff was somewhat hit or miss. They arranged a taxi and a tour for us successfully so no complaints about that. However, we asked another individual to call and make a restaurant reservation for us while we were out, and when we returned several hours later, it hadn't been done.

The only complaint with the room was that the bathroom had an opening at the top, apparently for ventilation, that led to a little room. Apparently other bathrooms and the hallway ventilated to this little room also, and so from the bathroom you could hear all kinds of noise from these other areas. I'm sure everyone could hear what was going on in our bathroom as well....the whole idea of it was kind of horrifying. When the bathroom door was shut, you couldn't hear any noises from the ventilation space.

“Very disappointing”

Antigua Miraflores Hotel

1 of 5 stars
Sacramento, CA
Apr 11, 2008

We tried contacting the hotel directly to make reservations but found we could only go through a company they use to make reservations. We were told someone would pick us up at the airport and no one did. We arrived at the hotel only to have them tell us we didn't have a reservation. We showed them our email with our reservations and they insisted it was a confirmation only by the company they use, NOT from them directly. We'd requested a colonial room and were given a traditional room and were not compensated for the difference. The carpet in our room was old and our feet stuck to it as we walked. The bathroom had dirty and broken tile. The room was moldy smelling and stuffy. Other travelers had problems similar to ours while we were trying to solve ours. The hotel staff gave them the run around, too. The people in the front desk were more interested in trying to get us to comment to a different hotel in another city rather than the one we'd chosen (they had a deal and could get a kick-back from the other hotel) and they constantly talked about us as if we couldn't understand Spanish. Very disappointing and I'd never stay there again.

“Nice Hotel in Great Location”

Antigua Miraflores Hotel

4 of 5 stars
Creede, Colorado
Mar 21, 2008

Great little hotel on a quiet street in Mirflores. Very friendly and helpful staff-front desk staff all speak English. Free internet in all the rooms. Beautiful artwork throughout-all is for sale and prices are very good.

Huge bathtubs, free internet, fresh drinking water and a gift shop that has great souvenirs.

Breakfast is cooked to order and served fast!
