“Exactly what we wanted”

Hotel Esperanza

I liked this hotel and would stay here again. It was conveniently located and clean with a nice staff and free Internet. The room and bathroom were small, but that’s fine since we just slept here and didn’t spend much time in our room. We had hot water every time we needed it. They also held our bags for us while we spent the day in Lima before our late night flight home.

“Great location”

We realized there had been problems with others recently, but were told the hotel has been leased out by the owner to new operators who did not take the same care as he had. A last minute snafu in communications resulted not in an overnight stay, but we visited the hotel twice and had a chance to look over the rooms. And our booking at Esperanza resulted in further correspondance with the owner's son Max, who personally accompanied us on a three-day tour of Nazca, Pisco, and Ica, as well as the Ballestas Islands, which he arranged for us on short notice and which included the cost of hotels, flight over the Nazca lines, and the boat trip, as wall as a stop at the Huacachina Oasis. The hotel is a 3-star in a good location near many good restaurants and great shopping. It is well protected, although we felt completely safe in this part of Lima. We are aware that some of the management follows the comments on TripAdvisor, and are hopeful they will react properly to the negative comments.

“Useful transit hotel post/pre flights”

Hotel Esperanza

3 of 5 stars
Bristol, England

Hotel Esperanza is clearly a hotel for a one or two night stopover due to flights/ trips starting. Intrepid used this hotel for all of my group ahead of a 2 week trip.

Perfectly adequate in a basic way. Don´t expect the Ritz as the 3* rating is somewhat over-optimistic. Functional rooms for sleeping, bread roll for breakfast.

If you do have time here Miraflores is a safe district and you can easily walk to Park Kennedy or other squares to good restuarants and hundreds of jewellery shops!

We caught a local cab into the Plaza Major area (5 NS). The hotel organised the airport transfers too (50NS).

“Perfectly adequate, good location, flaky staff”

Perfectly adequate hotel, convenient location in Miraflores, two blocks from the fabulous Gaston y Astrid restaurant. The hotel staff was pretty flaky but eventually -- with reminders -- they ironed out any issues. They arranged a cab driver who took us around central Lima for several hours and took us to the (almost equally) fabulous Pescados Capitales restaurant for a ceviche lunch.
