“Nice budget hotel .. but there is echo in the building”

Hotel El Ducado

May 5, 2008

This hotel is conveniently located in Miraflores. Few blocks from Larcomar and easy to catch a cab. Staff is very friendly and do help you right away if you request anything. The rooms are small although they have nice suites too. I love their coffee. Their breakfast is plain with coffee, juice and bread, it is good though. You can order eggs or a ham and cheese sandwich for $2.50. Hotel has no elevator (4 story building). Wireless internet is complimentary and they have a PC on the first floor for guest use. The only problem I had here is the noise in the middle of the night. Not sure if it's the echoing within the building but it is either a guest arriving/leaving to the hotel, coughing, shutting their room door, people talking, foot steps, you can listen to everything! Unfortunately I'm a light sleeper so there was no night that I wouldn't be awaken by any sound at least 3-4 times. If you don't mind the noise then it is an ok budget hotel. The rooms are clean and staff is nice.

“Overall, a nice choice”

Hotel El Ducado

This was a good hotel. Miraflores is a lovely area of Lima & we are pleased we stayed here. This hotel is in a quiet back street, which is rather poorly lit at night. The hotel offered us a complimentary airport shuttle, which was appreciated. The rooms were nice and clean. The television had cable, with English channels. The complimentary breakfast was very basic (juice, coffee, stale bread & jam) & we were charged US$4 extra for an egg. The hotel had complimentary internet. There was only one computer, but we didn’t have to wait long.

“Adequate”

Hotel El Ducado

Apr 1, 2008

I was a little dissappointed with this hotel . When we arrived the taxi we had prebooked with the hotel was more expensive due to the fall of the dollar rate. The reception was manned by three staff and it took an age while they sorted out the room for us. When we got to the third floor puffing as it has no lift found it to be the smallest room that we had whilst in Peru. We had to ask the staff for an extra towel as there was only one in the room.

On the plus side it is central and has free internet access and the continental breakfast was adequate.

“Overpriced for what you get”

Hotel El Ducado

2 of 5 stars
Creede, Colorado
Mar 27, 2008

We choose this hotel because of the good reviews. I guess the other folks must have stayed in a different wing or something. The room is VERY small. One towel and I mean one towel. No hand towel, no wash cloth, no bath mat nothing! The phone only works to call local so you can’t use a calling card. No A/C or heat just a VERY dusty fan. Noisy outside. Internet but you need to get a cable from the front desk. No printer for computer. Décor is plain and rundown. Refrigerator in room, but ours doesn’t work.

Reasonable location but there are many choices which have much better accommodations for the same price.

DO NOT BASE YOUR CHOICE ON THE HOTEL’S WEBSITE PHOTOS. THEY ARE VERY DECEIVING.

“Very friendly hotel”

Hotel El Ducado

5 of 5 stars
Duesseldorf
Mar 8, 2008

El Ducado is a small relativ new hotel in one oft the best parts of Lima= Miraflores- only 5 Min walking from Lacomar Shopping Center and the Pacific Coast.
The location is safe and there is alwys a wind and fresh air from the Pacific Ocean.
Very friendly and helpful staff!
The rooms are small but very clean and the beds are very comfortabel= for me very important- the rooms have small fridges where you an put some cold drinks.
Due to the fact , that there are two buldings the rooms are different located- I got a very quiet nice small room.
in generally the rooms are quieter than in other hotels but dont forget: in Latin America you will never get a hotel where you dont have any noise! Some Latin People and some other guests from Latin America dont have the mentality and respect.
Comparing to other hotels in Lima the price-relation is excellent - i have been from 2002 until 2007 to several hotels in Lima in the same street like Best Western Embajadores which is old and more expensive-it does never answer to e mails and I have been to MirafloresColonHotel which does often dont answer to e mails and the prices are 300 % higher than in El Ducado. Miraflores Colon offers different rates it depends on the contact you get and if you have good luck and you get a response.
El Ducado is a very good choice and answers always to emails and El Ducado works together with many international well known reservation systems and never compare it to hotels in the USA: you have to compare it to hotels in Lima:
Then you will be totally satisfied!
The breakfast is really continental but it is a very nice location in the patio where you take seat.

The best season for Lima: Dec until April
When i was there, some rooms where installed with air condition for heating in July August .
But i generally did not need an air condition..because during the night the temparature drops to 20 degrees Celcius.
