This is supposed to be the best hotel in Tirana, and as there really isn't much competition, it probably is. My room was not clean. I mean, even after it was cleaned. The walls were all scratched up, there was hair in the bathtub, and I don't even want to remember what I found in the bidet. The linen had holes in it and the temperature in the room could not be brought down from the equivalent of a boiler room. There are only 2 english-language channels on TV (both news) and if you want to watch a movie (any movie) be prepared to dish out 25 euros a piece. Breakfast, not normally included in the rate, is way too expensive for what one gets, so unless you've paid for it already, best to skip it.

Now some good things: The 24-hour gym and pool are excellent, specially for those with jet lag that get up at 3 am with no hope of going back to sleep. There is a decent selection of wines by the glass in the bar and restaurant. The location is good, likely very close to wherever you need to go during the day. There are also some good eating places within walking distance; try Carlsberg, Berlin, or Taverneta. Reception and concierge services are OK, nothing spectacular.

Until something else opens up, this will be the top choice in the city; just don't expect too much (as perhaps I did) .

We just spent a little over a week at the Tirana Sheraton and found it to be not quite up to some of the other International Sheratons we have stayed at. The rooms were nice, the linens crisp and the water hot. We were upgraded to the "Tower" (6th floor) business rooms but denied access to the business center on the 5th floor because our rate was not high enough. To use our computer in the room would have cost the equivalent of $25 per day so we opted for the wirless service in the lobby, not very convenient after working all day or before work in the morning.

There was no iron and ironing board in the room or coffee maker but both were available upon request. When no ironing board was available, the hotel offered to press our clothing for free which was nice. Albania has a big problem with electricity and the power is switched off daily in the city, between 5-6. The hotel has a generator, as do most businesses in Tirana but the Sheraton seems to try and conserve energy by shutting off the air conditioning at night. The rooms were cooled during the afternoon/evening and then became too warm during the night, every night but one. The outdoor pool didn't seem to be heated.

Breakfast was not included in our rate and was about $23 for the buffet. It was possible to order a la carte through room service or on the deck. The quality of food at the hotel was good but there are several nice restaurants within walking distance of the hotel that should be tried...ERA, Juvenila Castile, Villa Logareci.
Overall it was a nice hotel and the employees were pleasant. It's the only big, modern, upscale hotel in Tirana.

Being for business in Tirana many times in the past, I always choose Sheraton for the business facilities, the location & most of all the security it guarantees. I have been upgraded some times in aJunior Suite whch I have to admit that offers a much more spacious environment & a luxury feeling. The Internet is quite fast while the Business Center was always helpful whenever I needed. The breakfast was also at a very good standard.
The price is relatively high (compared to the Albanian standards) but you have not many choices when in Tirana..

Large / very modern "boutique style" rooms. Wonderfully comfortable beds. Excellent food (and wine) at the restaurant. Free internet. Faultless customer service. And quite reasonable (£100 a night). Couldn't ask for more.

Tirana was rather depressing - not much to see or do. Have the communists really left?

The history museum was excellent though.
