“Couldn't be better in Belgrade”

Le Petit Piaf

5 of 5 stars

This hotel really couldn't have been better for myself and a friend as we attended a meeting in Belgrade. We arrived by taxi from the airport so didn't have the difficulties previosly mentioned in finding
it. It has a wonderful location, in an area of charming cobbled streets and restaurants. Initial impressions were excellent. Neither of us had previous experience of the 'fingerprint' key mechanism and felt it was secure as well as a bit of a novelty. We found the rooms to be small but very well appointed and clean. We found from conversations with others attending our meeting that they were not so happy with other hotels in the city. We certainly got the impression that we had 'struck oil' with our booking here. In the morning, instead of the usual breakfast laid out, there was waiter service. There was no menu to choose from either. We were simply asked very politely, what would we like for breakfast. We requested fruit, cereal, yoghurt, cheese and a boiled egg. The attention given to producing a perfectly prepared boiled egg as requested was impressive.
The fruit plate was so beautifully prepared it was nearly enough to enjoy the appearance on the plate and 'eat with your eyes'. Linen and table presentation was to the highest standard. On our last night we were accompanied by six friends for dinner in the same dining room. We all enjoyed this thoroughly and the meals were refreshingly light and carefully prepared in comparison to the heartier meals we had experienced other nights. We had also enjoyed a meal in the restaurant
next door (to the right as you look at the hotel) on our first night. There was a group of musicians serenading the tables which was great entertainment there. We found the staff at the Petit Piaf to be consistently excellent and very helpful always. As we stayed in early October It is very easy to imagine that in the busier summer months late night noise might be a bit of a problem but there was an air conditionong unit so, closing windows would probably deal with that. We had a room towards the back which overlooked an outdoor dining area which was quiet during our stay. I can't imagine that future guests would have any problem with future stays at this hotel, it was excellent and well located for seeing Belgrade by foot.

Came to this hotel after a disastrous experience at the Hotel Palace. The hotel was ultra clean with comfortable beds, nice sized room with air-con and free wireless internet available (not necessarily provided by the hotel!). The hotel is not cheap (no hotels in Belgrade seem to be) at EUR 150 per night, but after our experience at the Palace, we were happy toi pay it. The only downside we could see was that there were only net curtains at the window, which meant that in the morning it was hard to sleep when the sun came up. The location of the hotel, on Skadarska is fantastic with little cafes, bars and restaurants on the cobbled street. Saturday nights can be a little noisy at this property, as a result, but quite bearable.

“Best location in Belgrade”

I've read through some of the other reviews and agree that the hotel needs to be better maintained. My carpet was grubby, and the bathroom was a bit naff with nowhere to put your toilet bag etc.

Bed was comfy, air-conditioning worked, and whilst I could hear noise outside (it was Saturday night!) I was exhausted having got up at 4am and suffered a 5 hour flight delay.

The staff were pleasant thought and I thought the breakfast was fantastic. There was a special summer rate on for €90 which I thought was OK value for a room with sole occupancy.

The location for me was made me select the hotel and it was spot on. It was my first trip to Belgrade, I was alone and felt completely safe. The restaurants near the hotel are of a good standard, have live folk music and are good fun (and not too expensive). I was pleasantly surprised.

“May have been better when renovated first but needs to be maintained”

Booked this hotel taking the advice from TripAdvisor into account but I was very disappointed. Paid €125 for a single room inc breakfast. It was not value for money.
The bedroom was very small - not too much of a problem for me but it wasn't a clean room either. The walls were dirty and marked, the carpet was stained and very grubby, no soap/shower gel/shampoo in the bathroom, shower cubicle was tiny, air conditioner the size of a tank in the corner of the room - although the noise of it managed to cover the noise of the night life in the surrounding streets. The telephone and bed- side lamp were hidden between the bed and the wall, almost under the bed. The staff could not even find them!
On the positive side the staff were v friendly, the breakfast was great and it's a superb location.
I can imagine it was better when it was renovated first but the rooms need to be much better maintained. A general below standard feeling from this hotel. Not value for money.
