“Not worth it!”

InterContinental Hotels Real San Salvador

El Salvador: Real Continental San Salvador
April 8th 2007
A TripAdvisor memeber: Hamilton, Ontario

A week ago I went with my family to El Salvador for a business trip, which was also a vacation for my husband and kids. We usually stay at the Real Continental San Salvador due to the fact that it is in walking distance to many turist places.
We were able to book the Presidental Suite and were treated well until my husband left and went back to Canada. Before my husband left he extended the room for one more week so we would not need to move to another room. I was informed later by a women from VIP reception of the 8th floor that the reception desk had made a mistake in giving me the room because the Presidental suite was already booked for a TACA Airline business meeting. The women explained that they would need to relocate me to another room and would let me know when I would need to move out of my room, which I was already paying for.
The day before check out I went out early that morning leaving my mother, 11 year old child and 8 month old baby in the suite. As I entered the hotel one of the bell men advised me I had been KICKED OUT OF MY ROOM WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE because they needed the room before check out time and I was not there and niether informed. While my family was still in the suite, the room manager had ordered 8 men to come into my room and throw all my stuff into my suitcases kicking my family, after humilating them, out of the room and moving them into another. The room manager told me I would need to be escorted into the suite to be able to retrieve my passport and other important documents left in my safe, even though I was still being charged for it, but I would need to wait for a meeting break. I quickly check on my family and went into the room I was still paying for to recuperated belongings left behide and went to another hotel immediately.
The apologized given to my husband and the discount I recieved on the room I was paying almost 600 US dollars a night for does not justify their unethical manner of treating me and my family. I had stayed and used their services for more 15 days and still was treated as an insignificate individual when a higher
client came alone.
With this experience I realized that the service I was recieving was not worth the money I was spending and I do not recommened this hotel.

Dear Sarita,

Please allow me to introduce myself as the new Rooms Division Manager. I have been with InterContinental for 12 years working in Cozumel, Cancun and Cabos in Mexico, and San José, Costa Rica.

Regrettably, there is nothing we can do now about that bad treatment at that time; however on behalf of the entire hotel staff, I would like to express my most sincere apologies for the frustration your family experienced.

Since my arrival to this beautiful country and taken the position at this splendid hotel, customer relationship is one of our most important goals to achieve. Salvadorians are warm, friendly, hard workers and are very loyal to their patrons; being that said, I am sure we will accomplish with our principal commitment: your satisfaction.

During the last year, this hotel experienced important improvements: New anti noise windows, the most modern CCTV system in the city, and recently opened the local´s favorite Rodizio style Restaurant “Faisca do Brasil”. These, are some of our new offers looking forward our business and / or leisure travelers can enjoy our facilities and services.

Thank you everyone for your attention and confidence.

Sincerely,

Gabriel Borralles
Rooms Division Manager

“Great stay”

From the moment I arrived till the moment I left, this was an excellent trip. The hotel and staff are above the industry standard.
As stated in another review about George the bellman, he is an asset to the hotel, and if you need Anything..... see him. He is the go to person.
I stayed in there Presidential Suite, and it was lovely. It has three bathrooms including a marble stall shower and seperate bath.

The pool is small, but this is really not a resort hotel. Plus the gym is great.

“Very Nice Hotel with Courteous, Friendly Staff”

Due to a few problems with our original flight we wound up staying at the Real Intercontinental Hotel in late November 2006. It is a very nice hotel, with adequate sized hotel rooms. There are several restaurants on the grounds and you are located right across the street from the largest shopping mall in Central America.

The staff speaks good English and if they don't quite understand what you need will go out of their way to find an employee who can translate. There is also a business center with computers and internet access and printers for the guests to use for a nominal fee.

The service was very good and we would certainly stay there again.

London - The city I love

We just returned from El salvador . We stayed at the
Intercontinental Hotel in San salvador .
The hotel is well located opposite a major shopping centre and the hotel compound is spacious
and fully secure . The rooms are well designed
but can can rather noisy if your room is overlooking the main road . Ask for a room overlooking the Volcano it is a bonus if you can get it .
The staff are very helpfull and attentive to your requests with no fuss. Whilst the Hilton Hotel is better located in the Zona Rosa district it is less secure than the Intercontinental .
We well be returning to San Salvador before the end of the year and we will give this hotel the first option .
