We have just returned from a 6 night stay at this hotel and loved it. From the moment we arrived, we were treated as if we were the only guests. We had a bit of a wait for our room as the hotel was very near to full capacity, but having said that, the resort never felt crowded. Our room was on the 4th floor overlooking the main area of the huge pool. This wasn't the quietest area, I would suggest requesting a room in the west wing ( nearest to the new Westin Hotel ) as these rooms are in a quiet location overlooking the gardens. Also we had a very small balcony, the ones on the lower floors looked as though they were bigger. The room itself was nice enough, a fair size with a walk in wardrobe and a lovely bathroom, including a separate shower. The room was kept absolutely spotless by our room attendant , whom we never ever managed to see! ( very unobtrusive, as were all of the staff )
The pool and grounds were spacious and well shaded with palm trees.Plenty of comfortable sunbeds available at all times, most people didn't come down until late morning, very unusual. The beach area was just as comfortable. The white sand was immaculately clean and the ocean as warm as a bath.Yes there is a clear view of the Palm which is right in front of you, but this really didn't bother us, at night it is all lit up.There is a constant supply of complimentary iced water brought around throughout the day, as well as fruit kebabs in the afternoon, ice cool refreshing towels and even a sunglass cleaning service. These little touches make all the difference and what makes the service special.
We ate in a few of the restaurants, both in the Palace and the Arabian Court. We had breakfast at Olives, which is a buffet selection.Just one tip, don't go down between 9.30 - 10.30am as it is packed due to late risers. We went around 8.00-8.30am and virtually had the place to ourselves, also more chance of getting an outside table. We loved the Beach Grill, great food although make sure you spray ( we ended up being dinner ourselves, for the sand flies!!! ) The Tagine (moroccan) had a great atmosphere and very authentic. At the Arabian Court, we went to the Eau Zone which has a lovely romantic setting overlooking the pool, serving great Asian food. Ninas served Indian fusion, again in a great setting, but food here didn't really work for us.We love spicey food but they tried too hard here and a lot of the spices were not cooked, so just tasted overpowering.Overall the restaurants were all first class,so we only ate out of the resort once.
Overall we felt that this resort was stylish, tasteful with understated service and had a element of class about it. No more apparent than when comparing to the likes of "Jumeira Beach" or "Burj Al Arab" where we had afternoon tea, which is gawdy, glitzy and very "Las Vegas"!!! If you want an uncrowded, peaceful holiday with great service,I don't think you can go wrong with this hotel. Would we stay here again? Certainly, we would highly recommend it.
