Let me say, WOW. My room has 2 old style heaters plus underfloor heating, making my stay in the hotel over the cold Chilean winter a worth while.

Location wise it was very convenient to walk to the casino and Plaza Mexico, it was a short walk to the city's perdestrian mall as well as metro station. The hotel is located near the main road but I heard little or no traffic noises.

Plasma screen tv was great and the theme of my room was an excellent orange. The shower was great and plenty of hot water. My room was clean and although it was located near the main staircase, I could hear little noise.

Breakfast was so so, not much selection and it was Continental breakfast even though the hotel advertised American breakfast on its own brochure.

I would stay there again given the chance to return to Chile!

This appealing family-run boutique hotel, located near the beach and casino, is an excellent value and one of the best places to stay in Viña del Mar. Warm, personal service and a central location are definite draws, but the chic, contemporary design is what really makes the Monterilla special. Chromatic furniture contrasted against white carpet, and walls adorned with colorful postmodern art create crisp, attractive surroundings, and though rooms are not large, they're very comfortable. Some rooms for two to five people have kitchenettes, a great deal for families or those staying longer than a few days. A small common area has several sofas for reading or relaxing. Off season the hotel offers "kids free" and other discounts.

Stayed at the Monterilla for two nights and it was generally good, but with some issues. The location was convenient near the casino and restaurants, the staff friendly and helpful, with a pleasant dining area and decent breakfast (but not a hot breakfast). On the downside, while it had been nicely remodeled a few years ago it's showing wear. The walls were badly scuffed in areas, the only chair in the room was worn and needed replacing, and the room had a dingy appearance. Also be aware there is no elevator, no air conditioning and no screens on the windows. We had to sleep with the windows open since it was December and warm, and woke up to several mosquitoes in the room all with blood in them. Not a good thing. I might stay in the Monterilla again, but I'd look at other options first.

This is a nice hotel. Staff is very friendly and helpful. We had a great room (room 33) and it was cheerful, easy to get to and perfectly located. The breakfasts each morning were superb. My husband and I really liked Hotel Monterillo and we were sorry to go. Just a great place...great value and very accomodating!
