“Best staff in Siem Reap I reckon..”

Soria Moria Boutique Hotel

Jun 25, 2008

What really made the stay great instead of just good was the staff. The instant you walk in it feels like being greeted back home. It's excellent service and always with a smile but it's more than that, it's real in the way that you are noticed. They take the time to talk to you and find out what you want to do and they are proud and excited to tell you about their home country, and show you the real Cambodia. If you want to experience more than just the surface of this amazing country, the Soria Moria is the place to start that journey. Enjoy!

“good hotel”

Soria Moria Boutique Hotel

Jun 10, 2008

This is a good hotel, very clean and large rooms and bathroom. However I have a mobilitiy problem and it was not very good for this - floors were quite slippery tiles and there were literally no taxis available in Siem Reap when I was there. It is necessary to get a taxi driver from the airport and then use him for the rest of your stay. But some of them do not have mobile phones and this is very awkward. I cannot use a moto (cant get in or out of it) and I cannot walk very far so I had to have taxis. There are no internal steps in the hotel and there is a lift. There are a few external steps and no handrail.
Apart from the mobilitiy issues this was a very pleasant hotel with friendly staff.

“Two thumbs up! Very helpful staff & clean room!”

Soria Moria Boutique Hotel

Jun 8, 2008

My partner and i stayed here for four nights in June 2008. Checking-in was a breeze and the front office personnel was quick to brief us on the amenities nearby (10 mins walk to Old Market). Subsequently they were also very helpful in sharing with us the different places to visit as well as in helping us to make the bookings.

The room (Superior Double) was big and clean; the air-condition and water heater were also working perfectly well. Hair-dryer was available but we had to request for a water boiler which was also readily available.

Daily breakfast was a good mix of asian and western cuisine, either buffet or ala-carte. We also had the opportunity to experience the USD 1 each for drinks and tapas all night. The restaurant staff were also very friendly and helpful.

Overall, it was a very pleasant stay and value for money (USD 28). I would stay there should i visit Siem Reap again.

An excellent place to stay. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooftop bar is absolutely beautiful. And the rooms and service are delightful! Definitely a good place to stay in Siem Reap!

“A good base for temple hopping but not what I would call boutique”

This place has new people running it so I think once they settle in a bit more this will be a better hotel. It is a good place to stay because rooms are spotlessly clean and very large with good bathrooms. However, for me they do not fit the description of being a boutique hotel, so if you have something very particular in mind when you think of boutique hotels, be aware that this hotel, although only having about 30 rooms, is quite plainly and sparsely furnished and comes across as being a bit on the clinical side. The pillows were overstuffed to the point of being pretty uncomfortable and I am really not that fussy, but couldn't sleep with these. There was no safe in the room but the reception could look after things safely and there was a hairdryer in the room. If you want something boutique and on the romantic side or with character this is not the place for you as it currently stands, however if you want a good hotel including a decent breakfast and clean rooms and a good base to see all the temples and Angkor Wat, this is a good option. The staff are excellent and really put themselves out for you. They were some of the best hotel staff we have come across in over 6 months of travelling and they were totally genuine which is sometimes hard to come by travelling through SE Asia. Also, the tuk tuk driver they use called Vutha is fantastic and highly recommended for running around the temples.
