“Nice Hotel”

Lotus Angkor Hotel

We really enjoyed our stay at the Angkor Lotus. Room was big & clean with French doors opening up to the back over looking the pool and tropical setting. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast very good in a lovely setting. Location good because it is out of town and quiet. Easy and inexpensive to get a tuk tuk to town.
To tour the sites we strongly recommend getting a car/driver and a quide. We found Mr. Phan: [--] as a driver; and, Mr. Nit: [--] as an english guide were both excellent. Well worth the $25 each for a day. Roads are dusty and sites can be far so a car makes for a pleasant experience. Without a guide, making sense of what you are seeing is next to impossible. The bonus is you will also learn about life for ordinary people in Cambodia.

“Very good for the room rate”

Lotus Angkor Hotel

I booked the hotel directly and had no issues with the booking. The response and communications were very prompt. I was upgraded free to a junior suit room by the hotel.

The hotel has a very nice swimming pool, good breakfast, and evening restaurant too; though I did go down to Pub Street most nights. The room was very clean and the hotel staff very friendly. The laundry service was good and prompt.

The hotel is a little way from the town centre, but a tuk-tuk will get you there for two dollars in 5 minutes, the driver will ask for three dollars, but I never had to accept that offer. So you can not complain at a return journey into Siem Reap centre for £2!

For the class of hotel tthe hotel is very good value.

“Ideal Base For Angkor Wat”

Lotus Angkor Hotel

Comfortable rooms, good breakfast buffet, nice swimming pool, what more could you ask for? I was warned that the tourist infrastructure here isn't as developed as in other S.E Asian countries so I wondered what I was letting myself in for. I needn't have worried; can't fault this medium class hotel at all.

Just over the road is a small parade of shops, including a convenience store and a market stall selling fruit.

“Comfortable Hotel in a Terrible Location”

Lotus Angkor Hotel

2 of 5 stars
San Diego, CA
Feb 12, 2008

We stayed at the Lotus Angkor Hotel for three nights in January 2008. The hotel is showing its age, but the lobby and rooms are quite comfortable. On our first night we stayed in a room on the first floor, near the lobby. A noisy group of tourists at the bar kept us awake into the night. There was also an annoying plumbing noise (it sounded like water going through pipes) coming from the lobby restroom next door. The hotel staff put us in a nice, quiet second floor room for the next two nights. The major problem with this hotel is it’s location on the Airport Road, a good distance from everything. There are no restaurants nearby, and even if you wanted to walk, the Airport Road is busy, dirty, dangerous and not very pleasant to walk on. We took tuk-tuks when we left the hotel. The breakfast, included with the room, is good, and served in a pleasant dining room with a nice view of the pool and garden (which was being renovated while we were there). The staff was pleasant and helpful, especially when we had to make last minute arrangements for a boat to Battambang. The hotel has one computer with extremely slow Internet access.

“Good Hotel”

Lotus Angkor Hotel

Jan 7, 2008

We stayed at Lotus for 3 nights while exploring Angkor temples. Overall, it is a very nice hotel. Rooms are probably not “luxurious” and shiny but clean and comfortable. Staff is very helpful and really tried to do their best.
The pool is excellent. It is usually almost empty and it is big enough to have a nice swim. You can not really order drinks from your sunbed but if you ask at the bar (which is on your way to the pool) you will get your cocktails really quickly. You also have to help yourselves with towels – nobody will prepare your sunbed for you (personally, I do not think it is an issue). So, you can have a really perfect day… Temples in the morning, nice lunch, sunbathing by the pool in the afternoon and a good dinner in the town.
Getting to and from Siem Reap is not a problem. 2 dollars and 10 minutes. There are a lot of good restaurants around. We had our every meal at a new place (all pre-arranged and included in the price) and almost all restaurants were exceptional. We booked our holiday through Kuoni and they did a great job – would recommend these guys to anyone.
On a negative side – I do not think breakfast was particularly good and when we arrived there was a strange smell in the hotel (sort of like not very good food or something similar). Later it disappeared (or we got used to it – not sure).
