My wife and I went to the Tropicana Casino and Resort for a one night stay, April 13. We were meeting three other couples for a birthday trip for one of our friends. I have not been to Atlantic City in over 20 years; my wife has never been there. We love going to Las Vegas and were not sure Atlantic City would measure up. We were right. That being said, we did enjoy ourselves. We had a room on the 9th floor of the South Tower (the oldest part of the Hotel). The three other couples were is consecutive rooms in the West Tower. I thought our room was nicer, in appointments and in size.

We had a special package, which included a show and free breakfast. For Dinner we decided to go to Bally’s to the Buffet. It was OK, nothing great. The show at the Trop was 42nd Street. It was not Broadway caliber, but was nice. After the show we went and played the slot machines, and had drinks at one of the bars. After meeting up with the three other couples, we went to the Martini Bar, which to us called last call way to early.

The Breakfast Buffet was nice, not great. We have stayed at the Wynn in Las Vegas and the Buffet there blew this one out of the water. The Trop was a nice Hotel, not great. Very crowded and I would say middle quality and certainly did not measure up the Wynn in Las Vegas, or even the Bellagio in Las Vegas.

To us there is no comparison, and we are not is a rush to go back. Las Vegas here we come.

“Great Stay at Tropicana”

Tropicana Casino and Resort

Apr 19, 2008

Stayed one night with a $79 mid-week promotion. Was very satisfied with the 9th floor room in the South Tower. Had ocean view, but weather was terrible. Adjacent low roofs and courtyard also seen, needs some cleaning. Room was good size, as was bathroom. Bed was very comfortable with quality linens. Bathroom and room were clean. Was quiet, except for a couple of inconsiderate room-door-slammers. Hotel and casino decor was very nice. $5 parking was reasonably easy to access. Check-in and out was quick and easy. Staff and security very friendly and helpful. Had no problems. Would easily stay there again--especially at that rate.

    • Disliked — The cleanup required of adjecent roof tops and courtyard.

“Wonderful stay”

Tropicana Casino and Resort

Apr 18, 2008

After reading the previous reviews about the tropicana I was not sure of what to expect. When we got there we used valet parking. This also ensured that our bags would be brought to our room once we were checked in.
Check in was simple. We arrived about 5:00pm and there was no line. we stayed at the Havana towers. We immediately went up to our rooms. we had 2 adjoing rooms. I breathed a sigh of relief when I was that they were clean, along with the elevators and lobby. We called for our bags and was told they would have them there in 20 minutes. We didn't feel like waiting so we told them that we would call again later that evening. We took a walking tour of the hotel and had dinner at Carmines. The food was great and you got Sooo Much. We went back to our room and called for our bags. They came in less than 15 minutes. We then went down to see the play 42nd street which was okay. We later went to the casino and lost but we had fun.
We had a late night ice cream treat which was refreshing. The next day we had brunch at the seaside cafe. Sandwiches were good. We had the bellhop come and get and hold our bags as our checkout was 2:00pm. We checked out from the Havana Tower side.We then saw an IMAX movie. We gambled some more and browsed.
When we were ready to leave we used the garage on the Havana Tower side, right across from their check in desk. We paid $5.00 for parking and our car came in less that 10 minutes. Our bags were also brought to the car. Excellent service.
My stay was great. I will say that if your looking for luxury these rooms will disappoint you. They are simple but nice. The Tropicana reminded me of a cruise ship. All of your entertaining needs in one spot.

“not going to stay there again”

Tropicana Casino and Resort

The service is horrible, people that work there are rude and nasty and they don't care.
We payed more to stay at the Havana tower which is nicer rooms, however , old televisions, carpets were nasty, I had to ask my kid to wear slippers because it was so gross. Also, we had comps for the restaurants and the food was horrible, so dirty, that fiesta buffett, just check out the doors where waiters come out to bring your drinks, right next to the buffette line, is so disgusting, full of filthy fingerprints that you see while you are eating if you are seated ner there...the floors, like nobody vacuums ever. I went to the diamond club by the market place (new section) and this lady was busier doing her crossword mag and when I asked a question rolled her eyes and was upset of being bothered. Eat at the Seaside cafe, food is a little better and cheaper than paying 20 dollars a person for a horrible buffette.
The only nice people were those of the valet parking, even though they have to stay outside in the cold.
We noticed the difference after driving back to Philly to continue our trip to stay at the Hyatt on Penns landing.

    • Liked — THAT I had comps already from 2 years ago and I could play
    • Disliked — lack of cleaning in the rooms and buffette

“Not worth the stress of staying here.”

Tropicana Casino and Resort

I went for 3 nights in December with my boyfriend.

We must have walked about a mile, just finding the check in desk. Once we get there, the woman says she will upgrade us to the Havana Tower..hmm, upgrade? OK! But to get there you have to walk through the entire "Quarter", which is just a bunch of overpriced tacky stores that sell stuff like crystal figures and spy equipment.... Well, when we get to our room (after walking seriously for atleast 15 minutes) The room is a joke. It is small, completely outdated, SMELLY, and just tacky looking, with very low lighting. All this after walking with all our luggage, we were so tired, that we decided just to stay. On the second day there, we decided to go check out the pool. After another super long walk, we arrive at the pool, which was TINY, and jam packed with loud kids. Even the small jacuzzi was filled with a maximum number of people. We just left after that.

We were verrrry unhappy with the Tropicana alltogether, and will NOT be staying here again. We are both in our 20's and physically fit, but we could barely stand all the walking. Also, they winded up charging us a higher price than what they quoted me on the phone when we booked the room.

I was much happier my previous stay at Ceasars, which is where I will be staying in the future.
