We stayed at the Rihanna Inn from June 23rd to July 4th, 2008 to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday. We had a fantastic holiday and thought the hotel was great. All the staff were exceptionally friendly, rooms although basic, were good. The grounds were kept immaculate and loved seeing the ginger cat with her kittens playing in the garden. I can't knock this hotel for anything except perhaps the repetitive food. But quite honestly we didn't find this a problem as we ate out most nights. We took advantage of the 'dine around', which in place of your 'all inclusive' meal allows you to access many restaurants in surrounding hotels and restaurants giving you 40 egyptian pounds towards the bill of each member of your party. But to be quite honest it didn't make a huge difference as the food was inexpensive anyway. But I have to say that each restaurant we went to the food was wonderful, and well worth paying the extra. Most meals came to anywhere between £15 and £40 for six people. The hotel's goumet french and italian restaurants were fantastic and ate there many times, but it was nice to get out too. Would recommend the thia restaurant in downtown and the indian restaurant at the marina. I would have to say don't go to the 'Friday festival of light' at the marina. It cost about £26 (40 euro's) per person, food was frankly boring, and entertainment bland. We ended up leaving and going to the Saigon restaurant instead. This restaurant is vietnamese and food brilliant. Tok tok's not to be missed. Make sure you book your free boat ride, as we missed out on this when leaving it too late to book.
Finally I have to say a huge thankyou to CHEKO AND THERESE, the animators. They were absolutely fantastic. I can't tell you how much they made our holiday. They were great fun, very friendly, made a huge effort to get us involved in all the activities, always sought us out and got us into the party mood. They made my husband's 50th birthday a fantastic day, and gave us a going away present too. I shall miss them so much as they were great company. Illyss and Stephenie (the other animators) were not a patch on these two, and although I asked them to make a special mention on my husband's birthday at the Peanuts Bar they seemed more interested poncing around. Anyone going there please make an effort to find Cheko and Therese, they will certainly make your holiday. We had such a laugh with them.
Also special mention to Abass (the pool man) and Elsayed (barman), both lovely people and very helpful.
Can't fault this hotel, and El Gouna itself is lovely. First time to Egypt and will definitely be back.
