“A nice hotel ideally situated in Naama Bay”

We (Mum, Dad and adult daughter) stayed at the Kahramana 14 - 21 Kan 2008.We had a really nice room (No3218), a king size bed, TV and mini-fridge (it's NOT meant to be a mini-bar) and a single bed in an adjoining alcove area. Balcony was tiny, just about big enough for one adult at a time!

Housekeeping was very good. Clean towels every day, clean sheets every other day. Room was always left neat and tidy and often towels were formed into exotic sculptures adorned with petals and leaves. I tipped our houseboy 20LE a day (GBP2) so that perhaps made a difference....

Only down-side is the shower - the screens separating the shower tray from the rest of the bathroom are really pretty old and is quite delicate, and would simply collapse if you put any weight on them. The access door is a bit tight for the 'larger' person (which I am!). There was also an issue with the lack of hot water. This seemed to be hotel wide, but there were maintenance men working on it. Incidentally if you don't like liquid soap you'd better take your own favourite bar of soap coz liquid is all the hotel provides.

The room decor is beginning to look a bit tired, but a refurbishment programme is under way and it appears several rooms are being upgraded each week.

We found no problem with the pool - except a bit chilly, but it's clean and the water is chemically analysed at least weekly. The poolside music was played at quite an acceptable volume. Poolside bar is OK, but service is slow, but who cares - you're on holiday! Give a small tip to the sun-bed attendant each day and you will be assured of the same location !

Can't make much comment about the food, except breakfast. That was OK, but after a week it began to get predictable and a bit boring boring. There's cereals, juices, cold meats, cheeses, sweet pastries, fresh fruit, a choice of hot eggs cooked specially the way you like them, and some hot Egyptian items that didn''t take our fancy (but beware of the spicy sausage!). The dining room is a bit gloomy during daylight, but looks OK at night.

The Tequla bar (upstairs from the Reception) is a joke - rubbish music played painfully much too loud. Just ignore the place and go somewhere else.

Front desk people are polite and do their job ok, but seem to lack friendliness towards the visitors. The safe deposit system works fine (charged at EUR5 a day, but losing the key will cost you a fortune!!).

This is our second stay at the Kahramana and third visit to Sharm el Sheikh. The hotel is well situated right in the centre of Naama Bay, a couple of minutes walk to both the beach promenade and the main taxi rank, if you wish to visit Old Sharm (go there at night when it's very colourful and lively).

During the day in mid-January the temp was about 25C/75F and it felt delightful. But once the sun set - at 5pm in January - it felt remarkably cold. We took jumpers and fleeces and needed them.

We heartily recommend Namma Bay and the Kahramana, but advise you to check the tour operators - there a substantial differences between then

This was my second stay at this hotel and not much has changed in 3 years.

I went on holiday with my lovely wife and 2 friends and we all had a relaxing time in the Egyptian sun.

The hotel is basic and could do with a bit of sprucing up but it is clean and the staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome. We stayed B&B and the breakfast might not have the choice of other, bigger hotels but the food was good. Omllettes, fried eggs, bolied eggs, cooked meats (no bacon or pork for obvious reasons), cereals, toast, pastries and tea and coffe. Not a bad selection to get you going in the morning.

We spent most of our time at the pool where you could always get a lounger with towels supplied. The pool is clean and delightful if you wish to cool down. There is music by the pool but it wasn't played at a particularly high volume and consisted of mainly classical music and British/American/Euro pop. The music was turned off early at night and we had no problem gooing to sleep at night as the place was silent.

The hotel is ideal for Naama bay as it is literally a minutes walk from the hotel to the start of the main strip where all the bars and restaurants are. Eating and drinking in Naama Bay is cheap and always good quality, we never had a bad meal, and this is the reason we didn't stay all inclusive. We did find the hotel bar to be quite expensive in comparison to the rest of Naama Bay so we didn't spend any nights in the hotel so can't say what that was like.

If you are looking for a good, basci base to expolre the Sinai area or you are just lookng for a cheap week int he sun then you can't go far wrong with the Kaharamana Hotel.

“Great value for money”

Kahramana Hotel

After reading a few of the reviews on here, and the fact that the Kahramana is one of the cheapest hotels in Naama Bay, I wasn't expecting much - however I was pleasantly surprised.

The bar / restaurant staff were friendly and the room was clean. The bed was huge - 3+ pillows wide!

Only spent the last day round the pool but it was pretty chilled out, plenty of beds available and a mixture of background classical and European pop music. This wasn't too loud and was played through decent quality speakers.

Breakfast was OK, nice omelettes plus usual selection of meats / cheeses / cakes. Breakfast didn't start until 0730 which wasn't very convenient on the days I was scuba diving and had an early start.

Clientele was mainly young Russian families and a few Brits. Everyone seemed to get along OK.

A couple of minor niggles - hot water wasn't always available, sometimes I had to wait 15-20mins for it to come back on for an evening shower. The 'Tequila Bar' on the 1st floor is a mini night-club and a complete non-starter if you want to go in there just to have a chat with your mates, it's just way too loud. I didn't have any problem sleeping as I use earplugs when I travel.

It was my 5th time in Naama Bay and the shopkeepers don't appear to hassle you as much as they used to - maybe they've been reading TripAdvisor and decided to take note !! There are a couple of shops next door to the hotel where you can buy the local tat on your last day without too much effort as they're helpful and not too pushy.

If you're taking a taxi from the airport you will have a 4-5min walk from the drop-off as they're not allowed to enter the town. We hired a 12 seater minibus on the way back from outside the hotel (120le)

We ate in Dananeer, Pomodoro, Camel Bar, Onions, Tam-Tams and the Jolleville Beach Bar. The food was cheap and of a consistently good standard.

Only paid £240pp for the week from my local airport and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

“Meehhh...”

Kahramana Hotel

The Kahramana Hotel is very average. Avergage decor, basic accommodations, nice but small pool....It does the job but this is not a 4 star hotel - 3 star or even 2.5 is more accurate. The one major issue that we had (room 3105) was that the shower was disgusting. When we arrived we had to wipe up the short and curlies that had been missed by the cleaners, the drain didn't work properly so water pooled at your feet as you bathed and the water was not always hot or even warm - more often freezing to be exact. Despite the shower, the room was otherwise clean.

The pool is lovely but pretty small. We usually ended up at the hotel beach - a 2 minute walk from the property. Both filled up pretty fast so you had to be somewhat quick in the morning. Often people went to the pool by 7:30am to lay their towel out to reserve a spot....The vast Russians at this hotel seemed to be biggest offenders of that annoying habit.

This hotel though is not all bad....you can not beat the location to Sharm. You are right in the middle of the action. It's perfect. Pacha nightclub is behind the hotel and you can sometimes hear the music late into the night; however, if you are there to joing the fun - this hotel might be right for you.

“Fantastic Hotel. Brilliant Staff. 10/10”

Kahramana Hotel

Jan 15, 2008
5/5 found this review helpful

We wanted a 9/10 day stay so booked Hotel via Expedia and separate flights with BA. Main Tour Operators do 7/14d options. Emailed the Hotel once booking made to ask whether they had transport to collect us from Airport and whether beach towels provided. Response from Hotel within 24 hours confirming we would be collected from Airport in their mini bus (no extra charge), and confirming all other info we requested.

Hotel then asked if we had any special requests for room, so (tongue in cheek) I requested best twin room for my mate and myself, with balcony, overlooking the pool. Which is exactly what we got. On the last day we used another room to shower and change, and we definitely got a good deal!

The Egyptians are very touchy-feely and want you in their shop to buy their goods, so hassle is an understatement - however if you are polite to them, after a few times of saying "No thank you", they'll stop. By our 4th day we had beach towels ready on our sunbeds when we arrived at the shared beach, a nod of the head and our drinks and lunch appeared on the sunbeds!!! They are very friendly and remember faces, so dont make any promises you can't keep - they will remember you!! The phrase "maybe later" can be very useful. Because the Hotel is not situated right on the beach, it compensates with a very attractive pool area. However, you have to be up early to get a sunbed! We got in late one evening (morning) at around 4am and there were already towels out!!! Seriously!!!

All in all our holiday was brilliant. The Hotel staff - all of them - were fantastic and very helpful, from reception staff to the maintenance guys and Security Guards. The beach staff were the same. The beach is a short 3/4 min walk from the Hotel and is shared with 5 other Hotels, so you have a good mix of nationalities. The beach has it's own Massage tent, Restaurant (which is lovely on a nice evening), Beach bar, and Water Sports. A lot of Russians stay at the Kahramana as well as English and Egyptians on their vacation. Although the Hotel is very close to the main shopping/restaurant/cafe street, we heard no noise from the town. The only noise really was from the Hotel Nightclub, but turn the aircon up, and that combined with the closed windows drowns it out!! Best night sleep - beds very comfy! Rooms fairly large and more than adequate for 2 girls to spread out!!

We are looking to rebook later in the year and would highly recommend the Kahramana.
