Read lots of reports on this hotel which made me wish I had not booked however, it was nothing as bad as I had read. The hotel is situated outside the main towns of nama bay and old sharm. It is easy and cheap to obtain a taxi apporoximately £3.50 to Nam Bay. Most of the hotels run a free shuttle bus. The hotel is cleaned everday day including the rooms. The rooms are large and nicely furnished. I was on the ground floor with pato doors leading to our own sunbeds and next to pool. The pool was large but on the chilly side. The food in the hotel is good. Well the breakfast and lunch are evening is fairly basic. I am a fussy eater but I ate at breakfast and lunch. On the evening we went to Nama Bay. You must try the China House where you can have either Tai, Chinese or Indian. The chinese was great the indian superb. A draw back of the hotel is the flys. The are round the pool and constantly annoying you whilst trying to chill out on a sun bed. The staff are all friendly will try to please you. All in all we had a good holiday, weather spot on. I am not sure I liked Egypt enough to go back but worth the £419.00 that I paid for a week.
Before I go just to say another draw back is the entertainment. There was a couple sang most nights in the lobby bar which drove us all in sane. Good for chilling days go to nama Bay for nights.

Before I went to this hotel i had already booked but read some quite bad reviews on tripadvisor. Now having been there I find it unbeleivable that these people are talking about the same place!!
Excellent food spotlessly clean rooms and super freindly staff in a superb location i dont know what else you would need from your hotel, the rest of the holiday is your own to make or break. Fantastic and would definately go back.

Just returned from the Sol y mar in Sharm and I can say that I would not return there again. The 1st room was dull in the corner on the 1st floor and looking directly into the resturant and a bit of the pool, it was also above the disco that had a very heavy base banging until about 2am. Had to be asked to move away from that noise but was offered a ground floor room just underneath the last, eventualy after persisting we were moved to a room at the top of the complex overlooking the heated pool 'what a difference' bright and large. aircon that didnt sound like a plane taking off, own room safe, working tv, downside was that the mini bar was empty throughout our stay. The room boy was very polite but the pool and sales people who hassle you every day by the pool need to understand that no means no and to leave you alone. Reception staff were ok. The food was good if you like chicken and beef most of the time or chips for lunch. The flavour of the puddings was either coconut. cinnimon or no flavour at all. A must is that you buy a bottle of water and take it to breakfast and refill it everyday. Shuttle bus to the private beach, what a nightmare comming back with all those sweaty peoply packed on it. All in all not a great place to stay when for a few more pounds extra you could have luxury in the Raddison sas with its own beach just along the coast.

I have just stayed at the Sharming Inn for 1 week and it wasn't a good experience.

The rooms were pleasant, and the communal areas were also OK, but this isn't a 4 star hotel as advertised.

The biggest issue we encountered was being constantly pestered by the staff and sales reps who were allowed on to the complex - asking us : to have massages/go diving/to have a henna tattoo/to go on a date (!).

I did expect to encounter some 'hard sell' when shopping but I didn't expect this when sat at the pool side. The same staff/reps came every day (sometimes 2/3 times a day) to try and sell you their goods and services, and were reluctant to take no for an answer.

Unfortunately as 2 female travellers, it seemed that we were being targetted more than couples or groups...

This was intimidating and really ruined the holiday for us. I wouldn't recommend it for female only groups of travellers.

PS - The food is always cold !
