Well I have just read the other reviews before writing my own and I think we must have stayed at a different hotel!!
We stayed at the Beach Bungalows which I would definitely recommend for couples (hotel for families). the rooms where clean and large with a sea view from the big windows. the shower was on the small side and the drainage wasn't brilliant but very adequate. The bar was a stone's throw away from our room but there wasn't many people there at night as everyone either goes up to the main hotel or Naarma bay so very quiet and relaxing. There was noise/music from the surrounding hotels but you can't here it when you are in the bungalows.
The beach was lovely, but a bit shalley. The staff were very helpfully when it came to choosing the beds and the towels. There was driving and snorkelling hire available, we didn't do the driving but apparently it was £50 for 1/2 hour (don't know if that was good or bad) the snorkelling you can hire for £4 for the full day until 4:30. but well worth it. if you are thinking of going snorkelling quite a bit then I would suggest that you get a mask and snorkel before you go as it would probably be cheaper.
The snorkelling was amazing as soon as you get in off the jetty the fish are swimming all around you, swim along the coral reef and just see how many different fish you can spot. AMAZING!! a few people we spoke to said they had seen turtles as well but we weren't that lucky unfortunately.
we ate at the restaurant at the beach half the time and up at the hotel the rest. we had breakfast on the first day but weren't overly impressed with the selection but you can go expecting a full breakfast like us brits seem to do. But we weren't up in time for breakfast after that as we we're relaxing.
The lunch selection is a buffet or a pizza off the menu, I recommend the pizza's as they are all made by hand and baked in the pizza oven, YUM YUM (we were a bit confused though as you don't always get everything on the pizza that it on the menu but still very very nice)
The bar at the beach is open from 8 in the morning until 12 at night, drink sizes are quiet small as all served in plastic cups during the day but saves loads of glass on the beach. just order 2 at a time and they are quite happy to do it.
there is a bus from the beach to the hotel every hour on the 1/2 past until 19:30 then every 2 hours until 23:30. The buses after 18:30 make a stop at Naarma bay on the way which saves getting a taxi.
once at the hotel there are 3 pools, very cold actually but after a couple of hours in the scorching sun it was very much appreciated. you can use all the facilities at the hotel if you stay at the beach. We found the food brilliant, lots of choice as you can have the buffet or there were chef's cooking outside. at lunch there were burgers or spaghetti made in front of you, then at dinner there were about three different things cooking outside as well as everything inside the restaurant. there were a couple of flies but that can't be helped in a hot country we just picked the salad from the bottom of the bowls and not the top. but no complaints about the food at all!!
I was ill for 3 days while I was there but I wouldn't say it was the food as my partner was fine. the only thing we could think of was that I was having ice and he wasn't so just be careful with that.
We had a few tips before we went as to trying to keep the tummy bugs away, the money is disgusting as the Egyptians keep there money down their pants! Yeap down their pants so take same sanitizer hand wash that you can carry around with you and use it every time you touch the money or shake someone's hand. Also get tablets called Antenal from one of the chemists, (we didn't get these and they would have probably helped.
we went into Naarma bay a few times and tried the camel bar, tavern bar and the panorama bar.
Camel bar - good view from the roof terence, drinks a bit expensive as no local drinks.
Tavern - football bar! there were loads of matches shown in the day and entertainment at night. drinks were more reasonable.
Panorama bar - Egyptian bar, entertainment all night but you are paying for it in the drinks but we thought it was worth it.
A NOTE FOR GIRLS - blondes are perved over, but this is just what the men are like over there. I went out in the day on my own once when my partner was watching the football I only went from the bar to the supermarket and there was men shouting hey hey at me, then I went into the supermarket and asked about some insect cream and the men put his arm around me and wouldn't let go even though I was shaking my arm trying to get him off. After that I didn't go anywhere on my own. very intimidating. so I wouldn't recommend a group of girls going on there own but the whole of Egypt is the same so it's personal choice at the end of the day.
also the mosquito’s are quiet bad over there, I got 25 on one leg (I must have tasted good :) ). we forgot to take insect repellent with us but you can buy a spray called OFF (orange can) and that is good!!
well I think that's about it, to some it up we will defiantly be going back to the beach bungalows again but will take snorkels and insect repellent with us. FANTASTIC
