Right.. Where to start..

I went with my girlfriend booked from mytravel.com

Although reading many reviews and most were good, i still went to this hotel, as we were being dropped off at other peoples hotels within our transfer ours was one of the best (Savoy and Hilton beating ours)

The food is all buffet style, breakfast is the same every morning but is nice, they have fresh fruit, freshly cooked omletes to your liking, cereals, fruit juices.

Evening meals they have Themed nights each night ranging from BBQ, International, Ukrainian, Indian, Arabian etc. Again, all in buffet style.

The rooms are very clean and the service is very friendly, the pools etc are very nice, i have enclosed some photos :)

Some tips to remember. Most things can be paid for in English Pounds or US Dollars. If i was to go again i would only take about 100 Egyptian (for tipping) everything else i would of taken either English money or US Dollars. Upon arrival unless your doing excursions away from your hotel etc, as in leaving the area your in, you won't need to pay 18 US Dollars for Visa.

Paying extra for transfers from the airport are also pointless to this hotel. I paid £40 for my and my girlfriend for return transfers, it's a 5 minute taxi journey from the airport that won't cost more then £5 or 50 Egyptian. So don't waste your money.

Last but not least.. Quad biking in the Desert is a must!!

Hope this review has helped, but all in all, i would definately go again, for my first time in Egypt i loved it

“The Sierra's ok... but the food really is awful.”

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Sierra for a week at the beginning of June. Sharm el Sheikh was lovely and the diving is amazing, but I've got to say that the hotel was a bit of a let down. Having trawled trip adviser to try and find a reasonable hotel, we chose to ignore the few bad reviews and settled with the Sierra as the majority of reviews seemed good.

When we arrived the staff were friendly and helpful, we had booked a standard room and were offered an upgrade to a family room for £18 each, but chose not to take it. The standard room is ok, I would compare it to that of a 3* hotel here in the UK, although this is exactly what I was expecting. You get twin beds, but the cleaning staff will happily make it up as a double for you if you would like. I can't knock the room too much; it was comfortable on the whole and was kept very clean. However the pillows are terrible, my neck still hurts and I've been home a week!

The rest of the hotel is also well kept and the pool area is very nice, although we did find it hard to get a sun lounger if we didn’t get up super early. Entertainment was none existent... a kids disco and a dancing competition were all I managed to see before I stopped going near the entertainment area.

The restaurant is what really lets this hotel down. The food is repetitive and just plain horrible. I'm not a fussy eater and I've been on various all inclusive packages in the past, so I thought that there would have been at least one nice thing I could have eaten each day... but it wasn't to be. We hardly ate at all and regularly either went hungry or went to the Savoy, because we just couldn't face the food.

Then there was the small matter of getting gastroenteritis TWICE from the Sierra restaurant food. I was in bed for three days and had to be put on a drip twice. You might think that you are getting a good deal going all inclusive, but when you end up spending £200 on medical expenses and eating out at the Savoy every night then it really does not offer good value for money. My case was certainly not a one off as I encountered numerous other Brits who had had the same experience.

Please don't let this put you off Sharm el Sheikh though, it really was an enjoyable holiday (when I wasn't being violently sick) and I plan to return at some point. I would just think twice about going all inclusive.

“Lovely hotel”

I stayed here with a friend and had a great holiday. The staff were great - very friendly, couldn't help you enough. Our main problem was trying to leave the bar as our glasses were never allowed to get empty! The food in the restuarant was fine. Not overly exciting but an all-you-can-eat buffet never will be as its a very different experience from chosing a restaurant and then chosing your meal.

The pools were nice, epecially after we discovered a quiet pool near the heath club which was away from all the 'Amination team' noise!

Our room was really nice and cleaned really well everyday. We didn't upgrade to a pool view and didn't miss out on anything as the garden was quiet and also an equally nice view.

The hotel provides a mini bus into Nama in the evening which is much better than getting a taxi which we ALWAYS got really ripped off in. The trouble with the hotel being in the middle of no where meant that there wasn't really much choice on that front. Nama was OK but we were much happier to sit by the pool in the evening and take advantage of the inclusive drinks.

The Russians were hilarious - posing for pictures by the waterfalls, wearing silver catsuits etc... but didn't really notice them apart from that.

We also booked a trip to Cairo before we got there which worked out much cheaper than the hotel ones. We booked a snorkling trip to the national park and quad biking via the hotel. We may have paid over the odds by not booking them elsewhere but both trips were well worth it and a fantastic experience.

Stayed at the Sierra for a week 4-11 June with my partner. This hotel is a must. Not only are the staff hard working, courteous & pleasant they are friendly and never forget a name. I have no doubts I will go back again. The only thing we didn't rate much was Naama Bay and is really not worth making the effort to go there, you are constantly being hassled by the locals and the bars are expensive. The Sierra had all we needed and more, definately a must.

“Good Value and Service”

Loved the hotel , and the cleaning staff do there best to cater to your needs. The Surrounding are a bit close to the Airport, but you soon forget about that after a few night 's, in the lobby free inclusive Bar. Entertainment was ok ,but watch out for the Female Singer Lola! who follows her choice of victim into the Ladies and try's to Kiss them , as l and a few friends discovering., Very! Scary..,

The sister Hotel is Lovely and this is were you get the main Facilities, but l preferred the Sierra as it is less crowded. all in all a great price for what you get, food a bit regular , and also watch out for the bad tummy bug , try to wash your hands before you eat or shake hads with the locals.....
