Well where do I start
this quite honestly is NOT a great hotel - 3 star tops at best knew this was not a good idea at the airport when I saw the cast from the ITV sitcom Benidorm departing on the same flight and didnt really get much better throughout the holiday
but I will start with the good points
1. the staff - all the hotel staff are really friendly and very very helpful and were very accommodating - this is the reason i am giving it 2 stars otherwise it would be 1!!!
2. pools - all pools really lovely and clean, the pools round the other side next to the spa are a lovely sanctuary.... until the workmen arrived more of this later.
3. Savoy hotel and Soho square - saved our holiday to be honest- great restaurants and excellent service.Happy hour is between 7-8 free drinks in glasses for Sierra residents.

bad points
1. food - although well presented and edible the foods were very repetitive and got very very boring after 2 days - you can only eat so much pizza, pasta, salad without feeling sick!!!
2. entertainment - i use this word very loosely - the animation team started at 10am with a ridiculous dance straight out of Benidorm/Hi-de-hi and continued with playing the same music every day at a stupid volume until 5 pm when they then stopped and ended with a sing song again (this is very very annoying)
3. Building works - we were never told by travel agent that work is being carried out at this hotel - it is and the first i knew of it was wghen I was nearly run over on my sun lounger - work was carried out on saturday and sunday of our stay and really broke the silence of the pools round the spa - If you want a quiet holiday DO NOT BOOK this hotel.
4.travel agent/airline - being lied to by the travel agent - dont normally use travel agents and will not be using first choice or any travel agent again, Thomson flight was very much like easyjet - despite its attempts to be better- spent 5 hours in the air and expected to be left alone for a little period on the flight .. how wrong i was.... if it wasnt the captain giving ridiculous commentary then it was the cabin crew trying to sell me everything but the kitchen sink!!! - I just wanted a little time to relax on the way home but there was no chance - NEVER AGAIN!!!!
5. People Pestering us - we had the same man ask us 3 -4 times a day if we wanted to go on a submarine - I DIDNT WANT TO GO ON A SUBMARINE!! - however he continued to ask us every day - unbelievable!!!
6. Naama Bay - think Benidorm - then think worse - unbeleiveable place never been to a scruffier place - also the "Gucci" and "Chanel" bags have to be seen to be believed.... my 4 year old niece could do better with her felt tips - there were 2 havens when we were there - the hard rock and little bhudda bar - 2 diamonds in the hell hole that is Naama Bay

Overall not a great experience and probably would have been better if we had stayed in the Savoy (much better hotel), the negatives far outweigh our positive experiences, I probably would not return due to this experience which is a shame because most of the people (except for submarine man) were really nice and very helpful and the weather was fantastic.

Me and wife travelled to Sharm El Sheikh last week, booked it from a local agent of mine Ivory Holidays. Hotel we stayed at was Sierra Hotel on all inclusive basis. this option was a very good choice as the food was amazing and having the drinks free made me really kool down as weather was amazing. The rooms are the best and with the private transfer added in the package vie Ivory Holidays really made the trip special as cut the journey time. I was recommended by a frined to use Ivory Holidays and would use them again and again. Got a fantastic deal as orginally found it on the net and then Ivory Holidays price beat it for me. I highly recommend the Savoy Hotel and Sharm El Sheikh.

My girlfriend and I have recently just got back from 'The Sierra Resort' in Sharm. We didn't really know what to expect before we got there as we did read a lot of mixed reviews about ALL of the hotels in Sharm. We went with Sierra as it seemed to have the least negative reviews and appeared to be great value for money.

It really is a great resort. We booked this holiday as a week's 'chill-out' with no real intentions of doing much other than sunning ourselves by the pool each day. First off, the weather was amazing!!! 38 degrees when we arrived there and around 42 degrees towards the end of the week.

Our room was very nice, big, very clean, everything worked as it should and we actually upgraded with our travel agent before we left to a 'pool view' room which, in my opinion, is well worth it for an extra £25 each. We had a balcony and would sit out on it and play cards on many occassions!! One of the best parts about the resort was the pool. It was very big, clean, great features (bridges, waterfalls etc) and it was just like being in paradise. The 'swim-up' pool bar was great too!!! Never had to fight for a sun bed in the morning, loads of beds and loads of shade too.

The service there from all of the staff was great, very friendly and helpful although would prefer to look at my girlfriend rather than me when I was talking to them!!! All of the guys out there are like that though, so what can you do!!! Besides, although they are a bit 'letchy' towards western women, they are pretty harmless and actually quite funny to watch.

One of the biggest issues that i read on Trip Advisor before I went was the 'horrible' food. I thought it was fine!!! I've been to many other all-inclusive resorts before and it's all very much the same. I must admit, I'm not the fussiest of eaters but I thought there was a great selection and something for everyone. However, I can see that If we had stayed there for two weeks, it would have definately got very repetitive and boring!! We ate at the Chinese restaurant which is a part of the Savoy I believe and it was soooo good, food was fantastic and the service was exceptional. As we were staying at the Sierra, we got our honoury 25% off and we thought it was pretty good value overall.

We went on a snorkelling boat trip to Tiran Island which was breath taking.....would definately recomment it....beautiful corals, fish etc....what you would expect from Egypt. If I had to make critisms, the only points I would make is that I think the Sierra would be nicer with one maybe two more restaurants so it gives more choice of what to eat. It's nice to be waited on sometimes instead of buffet style meals. The second point is that towards the end of our week, a large group of Russians arrived and they were generally pretty rude. However, overall, I would definately go back to the Sierra resort again and I would recommend it to my friends. Beautiful place.

Sierra, we stayed from 3rd-10th July 08.
its ar 3rd time in egypt and we no are standard of hotels over there. this is not a 4* hotel more like 2 /3*, the room wasnt verry clean wen we arrived, the pool is nice and very lively, 10 mins walk gets you to the beach through the savoy hotel now ,thats what a 4 star hotel should look like. The food was awful, some staff are very rude ie bar man, some of the reception staff are very unpleasant people to talk too, if you want to change your room ie balcony open workmen in your face working on a new building .we ended up eating out most nights theres a lovely chineese restaurant just opened 5 mins walk faceing the savoy 3 course meal 25 pound for both of us realy nice place staff cant do enough for you. the beach was amazing for snorklin and you av to go to mad bay \ naam bay just for the banter ha ha all in all had a nice time wont be staying at the sierra ever again but at the savoy facing and go on bb basis. Hope this review helps
just take in that this hotel is not a 4*hotel

“Loved it!!!!”

Me and my friend went to the Sierra for 2 weeks in June. We loved it.

The food can be a bit repeatative but we were there 2 weeks so ate out in Naama bay a few times which was really cheap. My friend is a really fussy eater and she never struggled to find anything to eat.

All the staff are wonderful, they could not do anymore for you if they tried,

The pool was great and we really liked the animation team, really good spirit around the pool and the pool bar staff were always sending drinks over.

The entertainment of a evening is ok, the animation team put on shows a few times a week and the main bar have 2 singers everynight and they are good. If you are in the mood you can have a little boogie!!!

We had bad bellies but were never had to stay in our rooms and most people we spoke to (both staying and not staying in our hotel) had suffered from "egypt belly" so i would not say it was our particular hotel.

We loved it so much we are going back in October for a week!
