“Dont cry for me its domina”

Domina Coral Bay Harem

Just returned from what should have been a relaxing week of stress free fun in the sun at the 5 star all inclusive domina harem. Before i go in to detail if you have already booked this hotel and can not get a change then log off now ...... you were warned.... i was'nt .Let me make it clear that this is not an attack on the hotel its self it's not a terrible place its not 5 star either not by a country mile and its not all inclusive either an honest description would read 3star half board.Arrival.You are greeted by the impresssive main gate you've seen it looks like the Taj mahal this entrance is shared by all 7 hotels and im afraid once through that arch i stopped being impressed . The place is the size of milton keynes and about as much fun you have a taf taf service that travels around the complex there are three of these running 24 hour and you still have a ten minute wait this gives you an idea of the size .The room is adequatebut not a 5 star room the sea view was visible by pulling the coffee table to the left hand side off my patio and climbing on it.The resteraunt at harem is called spices and is definately aimed at the russian pallet there are two carbon copies of this restaraunt on the complex and a ride on the taff taff does break up the monotany of this butlinesque dining experience.snacks consist of left overs from lunch The other restaraunts are chargeable although a good discount is given which they promptly nick back when you have after dinner drinks .£22.50 for a vodka with orange ,rum and coke,2 local beers. We ventured in to namma bay for some much needed nurishment as eating domina food more tha 1 a day had become unthinkable here we found solace at the the hard rock cafe 3 times and T.G.I fridays once good food good value i just wish i could say the same about the rest of my holiday.medhotels description is expertly vauge with small print disclaimers and it was clear the rep was used to using these as a defence for the over rating of this hotel, That aside my holiday was saved from the ashes by 2 couples we met who had a similar view to ours and raised our spirits. We made our own entertainment as the only entertainment was in the coral bay hotel and was specifically aimed at the russian and italian guest who i might add strutt around like they own the place pushing in being rude and aggressive to the staff who serve them first so as not to upset them.Dont go here if you like good food good sevice and dont enjoy being treated like a third class citizen. One last thing dont use the supermarket on site 3 curly wurly bars in multi pack 30 egyptian pounds thats £3 in english nothing is priced up they make the price up at the till. I could go on but i hope you've the message ther were at least 2 occurences every day that bolstered my low opinion of MED HOTELS .And as for domina time aptly renamed as dolmio time by heather our compadre its pointless adds confusion on all aspects of your holidays( exscursions/ departure/meal times and funnily enough
coincides exactly with moscow time thus no such confusion for our russian counterparts .thanks to tom and heather/ gary and sam i came home with some fond memories of eygpt but absoloutely none of med hotels or domina hotels.

“fantastic holiday”

Domina Coral Bay Harem

5 of 5 stars
north east
Mar 24, 2008

I visited the domina harem last august with my 2 teenage children on an all inclusive basis.
From the minute we arrived we found the service fantastic, all staff were brillient, we were taken to a duplex suite which was absolutly beautiful, i found them to be very clean and of ahigh standard, cleaned every day without fail. 2 bathrooms, 1 with a shower and 1 with a jacuizi and steam bath, never got round to using the steam as it was around 150 degrees when we were there, the air con was a godsend, the views from the balcony were amazing. We had a four poster bed, safe, hairdrier, large tv, fair enough there wasnt many english channels but on holiday who wants to stay in and watch telly? mini bar which was restocked with wter and canned drinks every day. you can also get water to take away from the reception or pool bar. After reading some of the other reviews about the food and bars i can honestly say we never had a problem, we we allocated 5 restraunts to eat at but found the food so good in the spice restraunt we ate most meals theres, the thai chef was brillient! the was plenty of choice so no one went hungry, ramadam was a star. the pool bar did close while meals were served reopening at 9-12 but you could get a drink with your meal.
all the brits met up at the pool bar at night and of course stayed till the bar closed, you know who you are ;-)
yes there were a lot of russains and italions but everyone did their own thing so alls good.
entertainment around the harem is non existant but we didnt find it a problem as we made our own, if you jump on the hotels free transport, taf taf itll take you anywhere you want to go in the resort you want to go and the entertainment is out there, great for a visit to the private beach too, always plenty of loungers and the hotel provide beach towels, the snorkellings great. there are a few shops on site for snacks or gifts which are reasonable.
we had a wicked time on the quads in the desert and an amazing trip to cairo museim and the pyramids.
met some fantastic people who made our holiday.
the only problem we did have was when my son was badly burnt and told to remove his tshirt when in the pool (not a good idea with blisters in 150 degrees) which was a bit unreasonable when people were swimming fully clothed due to religion.
other than that i can honestly saythe domina harem was one of the best holidays ive had.

“Excellent Break”

Domina Coral Bay Harem

Mar 19, 2008

So glad that we ignored the reviews on this site. The rooms were clean - but not 5*., the staff wonderful. Only went on one trip the whole fortnight we were there for the meal/show in the desert. The reef /fish are fantastic, although they need to employ a Marine Biologist as it will never survive with the boat and people pollution continuosly
Food was fantastic, didn't eat anything uncooked to avoid a bad tummy.Italian Ice Cream at the Nauticulus Bar, five restaurants, three bars in the All Inclusive tariff- just wish they had white rum. italian Rose brill and hubby loved the beer. Made some lovely new friends , including a lovely Russian couple and had a brilliant time with them - we think a trip to the Urals might be on the agenda later in the year. Would definetely go again.

“Loved”

Domina Coral Bay Harem

4 of 5 stars
Norfolk
Mar 18, 2008

I have just spent 2 weeks with my fiance, in the Domina Harem at Coral Bay complex.

We had a lovely time, the staff were very pleasant and our room was always kept clean to high standards. And our bar man in the main lobby bar was spot on.

The only 2 grumbles we had was the bar closed too early in the lobby bar (11pm) which is really 10pm egyptian time because they put the clock forward 1 more hour, in order to get more sunlight, is what we were told. The pool bar closed at midnight, but with the nights sometimes being cooler you dont always want to be sitting outside.

The pool bar also shut in the afternoon, whilst dinner in the evening was being served.

The other was the lack of entertainment in the evening, although with the heat an early night was sometimes appreciated.

We travelled into Naama Bay on a few occasions, it cost 52 egyptian pounds one way if you booked from main reception( oasis). There were also taxis just outside the complex which you could you use, and negotiate a price with the driver, £5 is a reasonable offer, considering the distance.

The pool was of a nice size and the holiday was very relaxing and easy to get to the beach.

Excercise classses were on the beach and water aerobics offered in the pool, for those who wanted to be a bit more energetic, ( when you go all inclusive, its nice but you do eat a lot) as the food was lovely also.

You could only drink and eat in certain restaurants and bars on all inclusive, if you went else where and chose to pay, the drinks and food were expensive.

I reccommend going on an all inclusive basis. The Harem i would say is the best hotel on the complex, the others I would say are 4* , although are classed as 5*.

On the whole a very enjoyable stay.

“a BIG con”

Domina Coral Bay Harem

Mar 12, 2008

Firstly we thought it was a good choice as the complex had 11 restaurants and 12 bars......... problem was we were assigned to two restaurants and two bars, and unless you were booked in the other hotels on the complex you could not use facilities. You could pay for other bars, but why should you a beer is a beer in the end.

We were even told where to sit on the beach, Security were on you if you moved !!!!

Clean (ish) when I get over the food posioning (had for last three days) probably due to luke warm food, sure it was nice food once when it was hot...
The room was nice & clean though,

They should also invest in some new CD's listening to the christmas CD looped all day in March was painfull.
