We were doubting to stay at Kasem Island resort after having read the disco boat review. I was happy and lucky we eventually did - we had very quiet nights!
When we arrived on Saturday afternoon, it looked like we made a mistake. It turned out to be a long weekend for Thai, and when we took a boat to go with the kids (age 4-6-9) to Monkey School (the kids loved this!!!) and the bridge, we passed one disco boat after the other, full with thai people drinking themselves bezerk and bursting beats into the open. Pfeew. There must have been 50 of these boats floating around.
Well I can tell: when we were at Kasem, at night and during the daytime, not a single disco boat passed at Kasem. I could hear the beats from far far away... I guess other hotels must have suffered dramatically, but Kasem resulted in a quiet place.
The lady owning the place was very friendly arranging trips and transports at fair prices, the kids loved the (small) pool, food was nice but nothing extraordinary. At night we were invited as well to a birthday party of the owner's family member.
We stayed 1 night, and another night 5 days later when we came back from Sai Yok. On both occasions we had a nice stay, and maybe we were lucky, but we had very quiet nights.
Also nice for families: they have connecting rooms, so we could sleep 2 parents in 1 room, and 3 kids in a connecting room.
Nice excursion for kids: Monkey School, Sai Yok falls (the train ride is worth the trip)
Rip off: Tiger temple (expensive and not worth it)
