After being recommended the Oriental Kwai by my sister-in-law and reading the reviews on Trip Advisor we could not wait to spend some time there.

This is a small and perfectly run family complex of 10 new holiday bungalows right on the banks of the river Kwai.

From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome and at home. My daughter fell in love with the dog their eldest daughter and wanted to play and swim all day. We had the family room below the restaurant area and it was perfect for us. three rooms and six single beds with lots of space.

Food was great and very reasonable. Would recommend the BBQ and even better if you can add your own fish to it from the Kwai!

Taxi man very helpful and useful addition to your stay at Oriental Kwai. Perfect location to explore the surrounding area with so much to do. Four days was not enough for us and we would love to go back. If you do not want to dash about it is also a great place to relax and chill out. Would recommend Helen's place for the best Spa experience ever!

They have the perfect recipe for a great holiday and I would recommend this place to anyone.

Only one minor negative - shower needs to be more powerful - but otherwise faultless!

Our family recently stayed at the Oriental Kwai Resort while in Kanchanaburi. After a whirlwind day of touring the area (in the pouring rain), we finally settled in at the resort. What an incredible place! The rain finally let up and our boys were able to swim in the beautiful pool (after making friends with the family dog, Lola!). The huts were beautiful and peaceful. The grounds were lovely to walk through and the river area very serene. The staff could not have been nicer or more attentive. The food was terrific. Nice music playing, beautifully decorated veranda. Our boys did not want to leave. In fact, we all wished we could stay longer. We highly recommend this resort. Thank you and good luck to Joe and Evelien and their sweet family.

We arrived by train and phoned the O.K. and within 10 minutes we were picked up, provided with cold water and taken to the resort. We had no 1 bungalow which is beautiful- right on the river. It was spacious, very clean, well organised etc. The staff were very friendly, charming and helpful. Breakfast and dinner were great. The pool was clean and welcoming. Laundry was returned within hours and in perfect condition. We arranged a trip and that was geat too. People we spoke to also had a very positive feel about the place. Highly recommended.

Taking a side trip from Bangkok we (me, my wife and my daughter) decided to visit Kanchanaburi for a couple of days and after checking out the on-line reviews we choose to stay at the Oriental Kwai Resort. That turned out to be a GREAT CHOICE! From the moment we arrived we had smiles on our faces. From the incredibly friendly hosts (Joe and Evelien) to the beautiful location set right on the River Kwai we knew this place was special. All the food we had from the restaurant was excellent, enjoyed on a beautiful outdoor terrace overlooking the River. Breakfast is included in the price, and the price was very reasonable. We wanted to do the Elephant Trekking and other activities and Joe arranged everything for us.

My only regret is that we didn’t have more time to spend there. Our trip was planned for three days and two nights, but unfortunately my daughter and I only got to spend one night. After a fun day of exploring the area, including the must see Erawan Waterfalls, we had an accident on a scooter we had rented for the day. I ended up laying on the side of the road with a broken collarbone and six broken ribs (thank goodness my daughter wasn’t injured). Many friendly Thai people stopped to help us, but none of them spoke English and we were definitely in a nerve-racking situation. We had the brochure from the Resort and borrowed a cell phone to call Joe. He dropped everything and came to help us. He drove us to the hospital and stayed with us until I was fully admitted and in my room. He went well above and beyond anything he needed to do. He unselfishly took several hours of his personal time, disrupting their family dinner to stay with and help me. I don’t know what I would have done if it were not for Joe. Regrettably I was not able to make it back to the Resort as we had already planned to leave the following day and the van that picked up my wife came by the hospital to pick my daughter and me up for the trip back to Bangkok (again, travel arrangement that were made by Joe and Evelien).

Although our time in Kanchanaburi didn’t turn out like we ever imagined, our time spend at the Oriental Kwai Resort was very memorable. If we ever return to Kanchanaburi I would absolutely stay at this wonderful Resort and enjoy the hospitality of its friendly hosts.
