We stayed at the Patong Beach Hotel for 14 nights in early November.
We had stayed there previously and loved the central location so decided to return there for our honeymoon. The hotel is opposite the beach, just across the street. It is also just around the corner from Bangla Road, the nightlife centre of Patong, making it a short stroll home after a night out. For those who love shopping the street out the front is full of market stalls, Otop markets within 5minute walk and the new airconditioned Jungceylon mall is a block away from the hotel. Hundreds of restaurants and bars right on your doorstep.
The hotel is divided into 3 wings- Sunrise wing three levels overlooking the big pool, Siam wing three levels overlooking the small pool or the garden and the Sunset wing ten levels looking out over the ocean.
We stayed on the sixth floor in a deluxe sunset wing room, from here we had excellent views of Patong bay and the hotel's big pool. Also had and excellent view of the "spa suite" rooms below, these rooms have their own private spa on each balcony- I think the people staying in these suites thought their spa was more private than it really was- if you know what I mean!
Our room was decorated with flower petals for our arrival and were brought honeymoon cakes and a bottle of champagne shortly after our arrival- all complementary. The room was spotlessly clean, comfortable king sized bed, seperate bath and shower with screens that open up the bathroom into the room so one could sit in the bath and look out over the ocean or close for privacy. Separate toilet was a strange set-up, located in what felt like a small cupboard but has a glass window with a curtain, found that you can swivel the tv so you could watch tv on the loo if you wanted- we thought it was hilarious- couldn't think of why else you would have a window in the toiolet!
Staff were always friendly and smiling, especially the bell boys who love to chat about anything and always very helpful. The hotel has four restaurants and three bars, all reasonably priced but we preferred to eat and drink out of the hotel where prices are cheaper. Banana disco is owned by the hotel, didn't go this time, last trip we went and had a good time. Heard a man complaining at reception that his room was close to the disco (at the far end of the Siam wing) and found the music too loud to sleep, though we never had a problem.
We loved our trip to Patong Beach Hotel and will definitly be going back for a third trip next year.
