The Holiday Inn Sokolniki is basically everything you would come to expect from a Holiday Inn.
Rooms are a decent size, clean, comfortable beds, nice bathroom, good workspace, nothing is fancy, etc. etc.
(I didn't use the gym, didn't eat in the restaurants, didn't go to the bar, so I can't help you with those things.)
Wifi internet was expensive, but reliable. The business center was huge and they were quite helpful.
Location is away from the center, but it is right next to a metro station, and there are plenty of restaurants very near by. (I ate at the Mexican restaurant, which wasn't bad). There is a Macdonald's right next door. There is also a bank in the hotel.
There's an ENORMOUS building going up across the road - not sure what that is going to be. The neighborhood seems to be fairly residential. (judging by the huge, utilitarian communist era apartment blocks in the vicinity)
The only problem with the hotel is the same problem with all western chain hotels in Moscow. Its WAY too expensive for what you get. I was quoted 300 Euros per night from the priority club website, which is obviously a fortune for a hotel of the Holiday Inn brand, but admittedly its pretty much in line with other Moscow hotels.
Between the Sokolniki and the Suschevsky, I would perhaps choose the Suschevsky (nearer to the center, a little smaller and therefore more intimate, better area) but the two hotels are really much of a muchness. Both of these hotels are very satisfactory business hotels.
