I booked this place for 3 nights, to stay in Chinatown itself. I would never recommend this place to ANYONE! Access to the hotel is a task, the staff are the most unhelpful bunch ever. We flooded the shower and toliet, they did not give us new towels and the elevators nearly sliced our arms. Would definitely upgrade and spend a bit more on a nicer hotel.

Stayed here from 14 Aug to 20 Aug(6 nights) and the stay for me is most memorable. Since I was single thus I had no problem moving around due to its location. Staff was nice. Hotel is clean and room are OK. the rooms with a window is always better in the hotel.

“Good location, sumptuous breakfast, value for money”

Swiss Inn is a no-frills budget accommodation in the heart of China Town. We stayed there for three nights in Sep 2007. We had a deluxe room with a window onto the Petaling Street (night market). The room was clean although the furnishings were showing signs of wear and lack of maintenance. A buffet breakfast is included in the price of the room. The buffet table offers a lot of variety. The air-conditioning was ok. The hotel offers complimentary safe deposit lockers for storing your valuables. Despite being near the night market, the hotel is very quiet. The layout of the hotel would seem a bit confusing as you have to use two lifts to reach your room from the reception. I think the staff should be a little more cheerful and friendly.

The hotel is near convenience stores, restaurants, fruit stalls, shopping areas and LRT station. You can also find shops selling souvenirs around the hotel. Its restaurant lobby opens onto Petaling Street which is the venue for the Night Market where you can find contraband watches, purses, clothing, shoes as well as pirated CDs. In the evening, the area around Swiss Inn is bustling with stalls of traditional Chinese/Malay/Indian food. A Nandos restaurant is also located near the hotel. The hotel is walking distance from Kota Raya shopping mall, Pasar Seni LRT station, Central Market, Sri Mahamariamman Temple and Thean Hou Temple. A Hop on-Hop off bus stop is right at the doorstep of the hotel. Overall I think the hotel is suitable for people who want to spend most of their time in exploring the city and need a comfortable bed and hot breakfast.

“Good experience if you have luck with the room assignments”

Swiss Inn Kuala Lumpur

I knew from the beginning that this hotel was inexpensive so my expectation where set very low. Nevertheless I thought I would get something decent. My experience was terrible. I had a STANDARD ROOM (everything else was booked) with no windows and a tiny bathroom. I don't mind the size of the bedroom or the bathroom but I didn't expect to have a 'smelly room' and a 'flooded bathroom'. Sadly if you get such a bad room is difficult to get you another room because most of the time the hotel is booked (given its 'great' rates). I had no towels when I arrived and the key didn't work.

The layout of the hotel is a little strange. The reception desk is in the back entrance of the hotel. The main entrance of the hotel is to the Petaling Street with no access for a car or a taxi (Petaling Street is a walking market for those who hasn't been to Kuala Lumpur). So it has a great location but it would be a little bit unconfortable if you prefer something quite and more relax. It is in the middle of Chinatown so it is full of smells and noises. Great for those adventurers that love this type of experiences.

In any case, my advise is to upgrade your room to a DELUXE ROOM or similar if you want to stay in the SWISS INN. If not there is a much better option just a couple of blocks away called the ANCASA HOTEL. The Ancasa Hotel has a very good location but also good facilities. Prices are similar to SWISS INN maybe a couple of $$$ higher at the Ancasa. For a Standard Room the difference is like $10 dollars.

“perfect for night market”

rooms are basic but clean and a little small but I suppose average by
most Asian city centre standards...this was the deluxe though. View directly above the market in Petaling street but surprisingly no noise from the market. And what a position if you want to sample the market for shopping and eating. The lift takes you into the restaurant who's front door is in the middle of the market. Can't be better positioned.

Reception is small and the staff not the most helpful in the world but the manager was excellent after they couldn't find our booking.
If you want 4* hotel a 10 minute walk from the market try their Swiss
Garden hotel, has a pool and very high standard rooms etc
