Swiss Inn is a no-frills budget accommodation in the heart of China Town. We stayed there for three nights in Sep 2007. We had a deluxe room with a window onto the Petaling Street (night market). The room was clean although the furnishings were showing signs of wear and lack of maintenance. A buffet breakfast is included in the price of the room. The buffet table offers a lot of variety. The air-conditioning was ok. The hotel offers complimentary safe deposit lockers for storing your valuables. Despite being near the night market, the hotel is very quiet. The layout of the hotel would seem a bit confusing as you have to use two lifts to reach your room from the reception. I think the staff should be a little more cheerful and friendly.
The hotel is near convenience stores, restaurants, fruit stalls, shopping areas and LRT station. You can also find shops selling souvenirs around the hotel. Its restaurant lobby opens onto Petaling Street which is the venue for the Night Market where you can find contraband watches, purses, clothing, shoes as well as pirated CDs. In the evening, the area around Swiss Inn is bustling with stalls of traditional Chinese/Malay/Indian food. A Nandos restaurant is also located near the hotel. The hotel is walking distance from Kota Raya shopping mall, Pasar Seni LRT station, Central Market, Sri Mahamariamman Temple and Thean Hou Temple. A Hop on-Hop off bus stop is right at the doorstep of the hotel. Overall I think the hotel is suitable for people who want to spend most of their time in exploring the city and need a comfortable bed and hot breakfast.
