It was a bit difficult to book a room because they don't have on-line booking, but the owner/operators (who live there too) Gilles and Didier were very helpful in describing the rooms and all the details. We paid extra for them to pick us up at the airport and take us back. They are wonderful hosts and speak good English (they are both French).

The Casa was a total new build inside an historic structure in the heart of the Pelourinho and was completed in 2007. The architecture and finish is outstanding. Great location right between Largo do Pelourinho and Terreira de Jesus, only about 100 meters from either.

The rooms are superb - pay a little extra for a room with a balcony that overlooks the bay; it is a great view. There is a small pool and workout room which we didn't use. An excellent breakfast is included. Great bedding, towels, toiletries and A/C.

It is a bit expensive but if you want to be in the Pelourinho in the heart of Salvador, this is the best place.

After a few days in Rio de Janeiro (not worth repeating) and a trip to the Amazon (well worth repeating) the next stop in Salvador do Bahia was approached with certain reservations.

Fortunately, who could have possibly known that this was a jewel of a hotel, run by 2 Frenchmen, in a city that does not give too big a first impression. The room, especially the fantastic bathroom, the intimate pool and the roof terrace & bar were superb as was the service. Particular mention of the barman "Sami" who had the most gorgeous smile and was more than just efficient (wish I could have brought him home), he made the best ever Caipirinhas - more than once!

In what at first glance seemed to be a desert of hotels - this was a great reward and all praise to the dedicated staff and thanks to them, a memorable 3 nights.

We spent our honeymoon in Brazil and stopped in Salvador for culture, history, and art. Casa do Amarelindo's location, comfort, and people were absolutely amazing. The hotel was gorgeous right in the heart of Pelourinho surrounded by arts and culture, yet the hotel has a private, relaxed, resort-type atmosphere that gives you the option to change pace and enjoy your time however you wish. The staff and owners are incredible and will do anything to help. If we go back to Salvador I would stay at Casa do Amarelindo every time, it's a gem.

We had a very pleasant stay in this lovely hotel which combines 5 stars prestations with the advantage and charm of being small and private.
Special mention for the HUGE bed and the caipinrinha de maracuja on the panoramic terrasse.
