“disappointed with tarisa”

Stayed at the Tarisa for four nights in november 2006. Breakfast and dinner option. The rooms were basic and the property is well off the beach, in fact you have to cross the road to get to the beach.
we were given a room with a view of some trees at the back of the hotel.the room was spacious and had a nice balcony.
the hotel has been taken over by some french group and is now called the lookea tarisa. the hotel is mainly occupied by groups from france. If you are french speaking and like a lot of noise then maybe this hotel is for you. we were looking for some peace and quiet and we very disappointed. there was a constant commentary in french in the evenings echoing on the public address system.food in the buffet was disappointing and the staff average. We were given the option of eating in the specialty indian restaurant which we took one evening and it was some of the best indian food i have had.
reading the earlier reivews I know this sounds strange but i was very happy to move to the mauricia hotel after four days here.

My mom and I stayed at the Tarisa for 10 nights and enjoyed every moment of it. Our room overlooked the pool and also the beach which is just across the road. The dining area also overlooked the pool making us feel slightly conscious about using it but who wants to swim in cholorinated water when you have a whole sea to enjoy! The Mont Choisy beach is one of the best beaches to swim in and stretches for about a mile so its never overcrowded. The water is very shallow and we snorkelled everyday. Bring your swim shoes though as the coral from the reefs can cut if you're not careful. The hotel provided free snorkelling equipment and other water sports like sea kayaking and pedalo boats and also free trips out on a glass bottom boat. The rooms were spacious and always cleaned everyday. The staff were so friendly and happy to make any request possible. We stayed HB as we are quite picky eaters and my mom is vegetarian. Also we wanted the chance to experience other restaurants. We had no major problems with the food-the breakfasts and dinners are both buffet style and if you stayed for lunch, it is al la carte. The staff made sure that there was a veggie meal for my mom by sometimes bringing her something special from the other restaurant (which you have to pay to dine in). The hotel is ideally located near to bus stops, supermarkets and cash machines. Buses are extremely cheap and from this hotel you can quickly get to Grand Baie (10 minutes) and Port Louis (35 minutes). We would definitely stay at this hotel again if we went to the North of Mauritius.

“Lovely time, memorable stay”

We had gone to Mauritius for our honeymoon and stayed at Tarisa resort for 7 days. It is a lovley and very comfortable place. Our room overlooked the pool side and could see little bit of the sea through the dense trees on the beach. The room was clean, pretty and welcoming. A bottle of wine and a fruit basket awaited us on entry (honeymoon couple!!).
The staff was friendly and efficient. The best part was that you could never feel anyone disturbing you yet everything was there when you needed it. The restaurant is on the poolside. Dinners were a livley affair with either the DJ playing, or live band or a Sega Dance performance. You could shake a leg by the poolside if you felt like. The waiters were also very attentive and took care of almost everything.
About the place itself, Mont Choisy beach is across the road from the hotel. You can chill there on the beach benches and hotel staff is around in case you need a life jacket or a tube or a canoe to go into the sea. Other water sports were available on payment basis. Quite a lovely beach! Mauritius is a small place, so everything was within a distance of maximum 2 hours travel.
A memorable stay indeed.

“nice hotel”

we stayed at the tarisa resort for 8 days in February before travelling to Perth, Australia. It is a lovely hotel and good value for money. It is only a 3 star rated hotel but the rooms are comfortable and clean. The buffets in the restaurant in the evenings had a very good choice. It is a fairly quiet hotel, not a lot of entertainment. There was the Sega dancing and a DJ playing music most nights. The hotel is just across the road from a beautiful beach which was really quiet except for weekends when the locals all gathered there and enjoyed it themselves. They are lovely people and it was nice to see them having fun too. The Tarisa is about 15 minutes taxi or bus ride from Grand Baie where there are plenty of shops and a really good supermarket. I would recommend the Tarisa for people who cannot afford the luxury hotels. We really enjoyed our stay there and would not hesitate to go back.
