This hotel is excellent, top-end service. The desk staff, the concierge, and everyone else were exceptionally friendly and helpful. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat.
The room I was in had two double beds. They were comfortable. It was a very large room, with a loveseat and chair by the window, and a desk and chair on the wall. I had a view of Kampung Morten, the Melaka historical neighborhood, with the traditional steep peaked roofs. I could also see the Putra Specialty Hospital, the Bayview Hotel, and the Grand Continental. My colleague was on the other side of the hall and had a view of the city and the high-rise hotels and the sea beyond them.
In the bathroom, you'll find all of the toiletries you need, and an orchid blossom wrapped up in one of the towels.
The breakfast buffet is wonderful, with a variety of western style, Malay, Chinese, and Japanese dishes. It is pricey if it's not included in the room rate.
The sunken lounge in the lobby is a great place to have a drink and watch people. The prices are a little high, but they do have Happy Hour specials, ask about those, that make it competitive. The piano player is good, and will try to play anything you request. He may have to look it up on the internet, but he'll give it a go.
It's a bit of a long walk- 7 or 8 city blocks - to the historic square with Christ Church and to Jonker's Street. However, it is a very short walk to Kampung Morten and Villa Sentosa, the informal Malay living history museum.
For those on business, the staff here knows how to make a classroom style seminar happen. With the ability they showed on this program, I'm sure they can do other programs as well.
I was here on business, and this was booked through the organization I was working with.
