my wife got some work to do during the weekend. all the hotels at ayer keroh was full. Just find out about the tripadvisor and found out that this hotel was at no 5 or something. Well, the map doesnt help very much as i got stuck in bandahilir for about 30 minutes looking for it. aghh the carpark is on the other side of the road and there isnt much space to temporary park to unload our stuff. I think this is the only letdown. The check in was fast and the reception was good. The room for me is acceptable but much better if they can put a electric kettle in the room. The breakfast was one nasi lemak and tea where i expect a buffet type. But the nasi lemak was superb.

“Accordian Hotel, Cosy, Nice and Convenient with Great Service”

Got a last minute booking from a website and this was the only one available from the many I checked. As it was the first time I drove to Malacca, my impression from the location map given on the hotel webpage and other street directories was that this is a very rundown and out-of-the-way budget hotel. I was pleasantly surprised when we reached the hotel. With all the stopovers along the way, it took me appr. 4 hours to get there from my home along the Northeastern part of Sin travelling at btw 90kph to 110kph. W/o the stopovers, I would est. about 21/2hrs of travelling time. The hotel is not diffcult to get to provided you have someone beside you looking out the window. Otherwise, even with the road directory from the websites, you may have to go round the place a number of times to locate it. Reason is that this is not a stand-alone hotel, it is like a 3 storey terrace house at the cross junction of Jalan Bendahara and Jalan Abdul Mushi. Located in the heart of the city, it is very convenient to get anywhere. Problem is like many cities in Malaysia, many streets are one-way only and once passed, the returning part can get a little tricky at certain places. The rooms are very clean. Many 2 or 3 stars hotels I have stayed in do not come close in terms of cleanliness. Even self proclaimed 4 stars hotels with more facilities are run down and insects infested. Not this one. It is clean, smoke-free, good noise insulation from the streets, fuss-free. Perfect for just staying the night. Carparking is open-air across the road. It is fenced up and guarded in the night, so is reasonably safe. I got a triple-room (one with 3 single sized beds), which is meant for 3 persons, but squeezed my whole family of 4 adult, 2 children (early teens) in it. The staff are very friendly and speaks English well. The old dude,as someone from an earlier review had written is in fact the owner. He is Ricky, a friendly chap, very helpful and knowledgeable with directions to even the very remotest ones (I asked about Ayer Salak, which was not listed anywhere on any street directories and I got there, many thanks to his pointers). I offered to pay him for the additional breakfasts as we were only entitled to 3, but he refused to accept. An earlier review talked about the unavailability of lifts. But what do you expect from a such a price! In any case, both my parents, nearly 80 yrs old, have no problems climbing the stairs (common, the highest is only 3 storey!). If you want a reasonably prized, nice cozy place, fuss and frills-free, with very personalised service, just to spend the night in the heart of Malacca, this is almost as perfect as it can get. If you are looking to be cooped up in the hotel room the whole day and be pampered with all the frills that come with a 4 or 5 stars hotel, such as fridge, safe, TVs with international channels, swimming pools, restaurants, spas, room service etc... go elsewhere, this is definitely not the place for you.

This was my second time staying here. The first was like 5 years ago. This hotel is small, cosy, clean and the staff are really warm friendly people. I stayed there during the Good Friday weekend and it was full house. I checked in late. Although i reserved the room thru their website and did not gave them my credit card details (they mentioned should i don't turn up by 4pm they would release the room) but with just one phone call, informing them that you will be arriving late, you need not worry that the room would be released.

Breakfast served everyday is nasi lemak, local dish with free flow of tea or coffee. Not too bad.. and location wise, the hotel is close to local places of interests.. walking distance to Jonker Walk and other good food.. you need not worry about food.. opposite is the famous chinese chicken rice restaurant below accordian.. i mean next to it is pizza hut. and opposite the road there's a convenience store. and melaka central bus station is just distance away. cab and trishaws are so easy to get around with. if u are game enough, you can hop on their town bus to get around malacca town.

alternatively, if u plan to book a bus to travel to malacca. if the bus company offers you an option to stop at renaissance hotel, choose that option cos it's just opposite accordian. you just need to cross over. save the money on transport.

We were in Singapore for a scientific conference and on Sunday decided to go for one day to Melaka. We got there ok, but when we wanted to buy tickets back to Singapore, everything was sold out so we had to stay for the night (seems this is normally the case on Sundays). Came accross this hotel just wandering in the streest, and it seemed not very expensive so, being on limited budget, we chose it. The hotel exceeded our expectations. Everything you need for such a short stay (no refrigerator indeed in standard rooms, but for one night you can live without it, moreover the air conditioning cools the room in just a few minutes), very friendly staff, everything clean and the breakfast, though standard, tastes like home made. And within walking distance to all interesting places. Will definitely stay there again if I happen to be in Melaka again.

I'm dog tired from the bus trip from KL, and the connecting taxi trip from Melaka Sentral bus terminal to this hotel cost me another RM12.00. I got a huge luggage to lug and a bad tempered wife on tow... and you're telling me no lift. Okay okay so this is a no star hotel but was there a bell boy? Nope you just have to d.i.y. and the receptionist, a sprightly 50 year old dude in hawaiian shirt and bermuda pants just turn his back to me upon finishing registrating me. Well, I get the message and start to heave my cargo up three flight of stairs, and upon breathlessly entering my room, guess what, the air con wasnt working. But the guy downstair agreed to switch room one floor down, no question asked. So thats that. However I must say the location is not really that attractive. When your legs are aching, walking another 15 minutes to the famous spots like the Stathuys, Christ Church and the Famosa isnt a very pleasant prospect. And the breakfast? Well how about a newspaper wrapped nasi lemak and unlimited flow of coffee or tea sound to you? To me, when most coffee shops in town are still not open at 8 am on a Sunday morning, its better than listening to your wife's growling and your stomach's grumbling. Well, what do you expect from RM85.00 per night?
