I discovered the Likuliku Lagoon resort by accident. We have been travelling around the world and wanted to stay a week in Fiji to break up our long trip home. I found the Likuliku resort on the internet. It has only been open for 9 months and caters for adults only. It has over water burres (pronounced boorays) and deluxe beachfront and beachfront burres. We opted for an 8 night stay in a deluxe beachfront. It was awesome. Built using local products, it is all polished wood and palm tree beams lashed together using materials from the coconut trees. Huge square footage makes for a very comfortable stay. Outside you have your own plunge pool, which has spa bubbles and a day bed. Pure bliss.

We arrived by seaplane, transferred to a small boat from the hotel that was waiting and alighted on to the pontoon to a welcome song from the staff. We felt really special. From that day to the last, nothing was too much trouble. You are greeted by your first names by all the staff and they take time to find out about you. Their smiles lift your heart every day.

The hotel has a fantastic chef, who at the moment comes from Australia. Each mealtime was a delight of 3 well thought out courses. Delicious. It is a very quiet place with free non motorised activities but waterskiing and jet boating is available for a charge. You can do interesting walks, the medicine walk, the sacred sites walk etc, but do that in the morning as there are some steep climbs.

We spent the days lazing around the infinity pool. Sunbeds are set out at a discrete distance from other guests. Although, due to the fact that the hotel has a maximum of 90 guests, (35 - 50 when we were there), you are never on top of anyone else.

We had the most wonderful time and made some great friends. We can highly recommend it to couples, whether you are first/second honeymooners or a couple just needing to rewind and have some first class r&r.

On the day we left, we walked down the pontoon to get the seaplane and several members of staff ran down to wave us off and sing songs. They were still waving as the seaplane took off. I had tears streaming down my face. Definitely a hard place to leave, especially as we are from the UK and it is so far away. However, we are planning another trip to NZ in 4 - 5 years time and will definitely go back to Likuliku again.

We booked our stay at Likuliku before the resort even opened - and our blind faith paid off. I have never stayed at a more unbelievable place. Likuliku was, from start to finish, pure perfection.

I haven't traveled around Fiji much, but I've stayed at a fair share of island resorts and Likuliku was the absolute best. The food was out of this world - fresh and local, and the service was beyond impeccable - all the staff were so kind, hospitable, quick to respond to any request. We also spent a bit of time with the general manager, who could not have been more gracious.

Our days were heaven: eating glorious food, kayaking or snorkeling, napping on the day bed, and just loving every second.

It's true that there are nicer beaches elsewhere in the world, but we didn't go for the beach but for the accommodations (which were stellar). I also thought we had a very very high level of privacy and never felt intruded on.

A couple recommendations - get a massage with Scott (best I've ever had!). Also, I though the deluxe beachfront bures were definitely worth the extra cash, for the daybed and plunge pool. I even liked them more than the overwater. And don't miss Likuliku. I could not have had a more perfect honeymoon.

Honeymoon heaven! I have never been outside Australia before this and I was extremely worried about where we went. After talking to a lot of agents and getting recommendations and watching this site for several months we booked after cancelling our original destination in Fiji after some very bad reports of Tokorriki. We were not disappointed at all - SOME ADVICE IF YOU ARE WORRIED ABOUT PRIVACY WE STAYED IN DELUXE BURE 46 which was the last one away from the main reception near the helicopter pad and we had the most privacy as no one walked pasted etc. Also a good chance to walk off the food we were eating! Outdoor shower was great !! The tides are extreme but hey it is the ocean and it didn't effect us. The food is amazing and I have never eaten so much !! The only thing you need to worry about with the food is that you will put on weight!! Great staff, great everything. I would recommend this to anyone

My wife and I left for our honeymoon in August and spent 10 days in Australia before spending the final 5 days at the LikuLiku Resort in Fiji. As we arrived to the resort via seaplane, and upon just seeing the island/resort for the first time, my wife asked "Can we please extend our trip an extra 2 night?!". Thats how beautiful and breathtaking it was.

Accomidations: We stayed for 2 nights in a deluxe beachfront bure that had a beautiful room, which was very big with seperate living area and bedroom area, a large bathroom, and outdoor shower in the back, and a patio with daybed and plunge pool in the front deck. My only complaints would be that the outdoor shower naturally has quite a few insects and the plunge pool accumulates leaves, and debris by mid day so it should ideally be used right after its daily cleaning each morning. However, me and my wife are a bit on the squirmish side and i know a lot of couples that enjouyed the outdoor shower and plunge pool quite a bit more than we did.

We switched to the over water bures the last 2 nights and words cannot describe how spectacular they were. one morning we woke up and put our snorkeling gear on, and took the ladder located on our deck straight down into the ocean and snorkeled/swam our way for 30 min to the center of the island to enjoy our breakfast.

Activities: we enjoyed paddle boats, sailing (truly magnificant here, especially when you sail about 10 feet away from all the over water bures), and went on a tour of a local village on a neighboring island. there were many other activities offered off of our island, but he only one we did was jet skiing, otherwise we relaxed a lot. The beach is magnificant and white as can be and the ocean is the perfect aqua color and incredibly clear. we spotted baby sharks, manta rays, and beautiful fish.

Food: we are vegetarians so we cant comment on all the food, but every couple we spoke to raved about the cusine. the chef made special vegetarian food for us every lunch and dinner and consulted with us when we first arrived to ask what we like and dislike. However, there are 3 meals per day and at set times, so if you feel like doing a late 3pm lunch, you dont have that option, however it was never an issue for us. The refreshing fresh fruit smoothie shots that we received at the begening of each lunch were very tasty and the service was very friendly.

Overall this was the best vacation i ever have been on and i hope we can return one day for an important anniversary or something. If you can, definitely stay in the over-water bures - its a once in a lifetime experience.
