Likuliku Lagoon Resort

Arriving in LikuLiku we were greeted with friendly faces, a beautiful location and a luxurious resort. On our honeymoon, we had high expectations and LikuLiku managed to surpass them.

While the weather was miserable at times, we had a fantastic time. We stayed in a beachfront bure and spent much of our time on the day bed on the front balcony, reading and taking in the view.

One of the highlights of our time at LikuLiku was the beautiful food. Buffet (a beautiful spread) + hot breakfast ala carte if you wished. Lunch and dinner were both ala carte, and choosing from a menu where all dishes sounded divine was the hardest decision we had to make in five days! I have never eaten *such* good food. Make sure you stay for BBQ night (all you can eat meat, seafood, veges etc cooked for you while you wait) and a themed night (we have an Indian night whilst we were there).

There are plenty of options for activities if you're interested. We made a visit to the local Yarro village (HIGHLY recommended) and went snorkelling. Both trips were beautiful despite the choppy waters. Other activities are fishing and snorkelling, medicine walks and island hopping.

Finally, the staff really spoilt us. Everyone on staff made an effort to call us both by name, which made us feel very at home. No request was greeted with the impression that it was "too hard". The special touches made ALL the difference (cookies in your bure each day - YUM!, the turn down service with essential oils and CDs playing, the beautiful necklaces and passionfruit iced tea on arrival, and the staff choir!).

“likuliku, wonderful, even in the rain in the wet season!”

Likuliku Lagoon Resort

We stayed here on our way back from New Zealand to Los Angeles and had the most wonderful time, despite some iffy weather.

But it was the wet season and we were not expecting great weather. From the minute we arrived via speedboat and catamaran, this place was just stunning.

Cyclone Damen had passed througfh only three weeks earlier and damaged some of the over-water bures but the rest of the hotel was in fabulous condition. The staff were really welcoming and the service faultless... we especially enjoyed the social get togethers in the bar at sunset as a chace to meet the other guests. Generous free food and drinks led to some instant friendships.

Snorkelling was fantastic and you didn't need to go out in boat, and if you forgot your snorkel you could either borrow one or literally paddle out and the tropical fish swam roudn your legs in the incredibly clear water.

Having been married nearly 25 years, we were slightly worried we might feel out of it if all our fellow guests were on their honeymoons but we didn't feel that way in the least.

The hotel's land belongs to the local Fijians who get a percentage share of the profits and Likuliku and its fellow resort round the bay also subsidise the local village, in particular the school, so we also felt good about being there and doing our bit towards the locals.

Even when it poured we enjoyed being outside under our open sided thatched pergola, complete with a very comfy second double bed!

Fiji is difficult to get to from the Uk but well worth making the effort as these islands are truly unspoilt.. three nights was much too short... try and stay a week and explore the local deserted beaches and listen out for what some people say are the ghosts of babies in the woods!

“Heaven on Earth”

Likuliku Lagoon Resort

Thank you Likuliku for giving my fiance and I an amazing, beautiful, romantic, relaxing and truly magic holiday !!!!! We loved this resort and can not give enough praise to do it justice! If you a thinking of Likuliku please book, you will not be disappointed.

Here is a break down of our feedback:

LOCATION
Great location, absolute paradise, secluded, stunning views, snorkelling was basic (not sure if this was to do with the recent cyclone), however we went on a snorkelling trip (short boat trip) which was fantastic for us novice snorkellers.

We arrived by boat (takes 2 hrs from marina), no complaints, service was excellent, but after our flight and transit time we were quite exhausted, if I had the cash I would definitely arrive by sea plane or helicopter next time. If flying from Australia I would recommend the Fijian carrier 'Air Pacific' over PacificBlue (Virgin), we flew both, with the PacificBlue experience the same as a domestic Virgin flight, no meals and no TV screens (which is odd because I've had private screens on domestic flights), they also actually use domestic planes. Plus you have to transit in Sydney or Brisbane if flying from/to Melbourne and I think PacificBlue was slightly more expensive, we only flew PacificBlue because there was no AirPacific flight on that day. Much more room on the proper international planes that Air Pacific use and HOT meals were quite good.

RESORT
From the Bures to the restaurant to the bars, all were luxuriously appointed and presented to the finest detail. The Bures were extremely clean, decorated beautifully, and are first class all the way. On arrival to our bure we found a welcome message written on our bed in coconut leaves, hand written welcome card, iced champagne and chill out music in the stereo. Bures are fully serviced twice daily, and I mean fully serviced....... oil burners were lit for us, perfume sprayed in our bure, cookies, lotions and much more

FOOD
Where to begin. All meals would revival any top Australian restaurant. All 3 meals are a-la-carte with breakfast also including a buffet. Lunch is 3 courses, dinner is 4 courses. Food was absolutely amazing, heaps of variety, and presentation again was top notch. Congrats to the Chef ! We wished we could have brought him home with us .

STAFF
Again, Likuliku excels.....Staff were so eager to please and always smiling, friendly and most importantly relaxed - this attitude is contagious :-) so easy to enjoy "Fiji Time"

OVERALL
We had a truly indescribable time, we completely forgot about life in Melbourne and switched off and enjoyed everything Likuliku had to offer. WE WILL DEFINATELY GO BACK TO LIKULIKU !!! WE LOVED IT !!! It was like a second home.

“Wonderful Likuliku”

Likuliku Lagoon Resort

5 of 5 stars

We arrived at Likuliku in early February, right after Cyclone Gene passed through. The staff was working hard cleaning up the debris and making needed repairs. We had a beach bure that felt like our own little piece of paradise. We were greeted with a “Welcome, home” from the staff, and by the end of our stay it truly felt like our home. The over-water bures and the Masima Island Bar were closed when we arrived due to the storm, but reopened prior to our departure. The chef is to be commended for the preparation and presentation of the food, and we looked forward to each meal like it was an adventure. The service in the restaurant was outstanding, and the Reception staff went out of their way to insure our every need was met. Our bure was immaculately cleaned each day. Each evening when we returned from dinner, the room was filled with the aroma of tropical flowers from a lighted oil lamp and the relaxing sounds of Café Del Mar playing on the music system. By day, we spent many hours on the daybed just relaxing and reading and enjoying the sounds of the ocean. Each afternoon around four o’clock, a bucket of ice and freshly baked cookies were delivered to our bure. The staff always made us feel so special, and we made many new friends among both staff and fellow guests. It was difficult to leave Likuliku without a few tears in our eyes, but we hope to return again to the place in Fiji we call “home.”
