Great day spa experience at Los Altos. Five of us ladies booked the day package and LOVED it. We were picked up at our condo in Playa Langosta -- about a 20-25 min drive from Tamarindo/Playa Langosta. Four hours of fantastic treatments from your own "personal attendant" plus an excellent lunch, drinks, wine for $200 each including transportation. What a wonderful day for such a reasonable price. You'd pay $500+ for similar services in the USA. Beautiful location, wonderful people, great service, fantastic treatments. It was bliss. The flyer for this place has been in our home in Playa Langosta for 3 years and this is the first time I've tried it -- believe me, we'd have been there many times a year had we known how wonderful it would be!

We stayed for 7 nights in June for our 10th wedding anniversary. We choose Los Altos de Eros because of the reviews from this site. One fear I had is that because of all the fantastic reviews, my expectations were set too high. After 7 wonderful nights I can say that our expectations were exceeded. This is truly a one of a kind place with a magical combination of setting, amenities, service and group dynamic.

Accommodations: We were able to secure the Eros Suite, which I highly recommend spending the extra money on. The other rooms are very nice but they are small and don’t provide much space to relax privately in your room. In addition, the private balcony offers amazing views and allows you to keep the sliding glass door wide open day and night.

Food: All meals were amazing with healthy ingredients, lots of seafood, and delightful desserts. We stayed for the “bocas” on most non dinner nights. They were not as fancy as the full dinners but always very good and always with outstanding desserts. We also had the romantic massage dinner which was outstanding and I highly recommend you book this early as they only can accommodate one couple per night.

Drinks: Beer, wine, smoothies and sodas are available at no additional charge throughout your stay. There is no selection of beers or wines, but the options they offered were fine. If you are a true wine connoisseur, you may want to bring your own. Otherwise, I’m sure you will be happy with their selection. A full selection of liquor is available at an additional charge.

Service: This is the one area that truly makes Los Altos de Eros stand out. The amazing staff is always happy, friendly and there to help in any way they can. If you ask for it, they will bend over backward to make it happen. One review commented on wanting the option to eat privately in your room or balcony. Although we never asked for this, I can’t imagine that they would not have accommodated this request if we had asked.

Group Dynamic: This is the one area that is a bit of a gamble. You will spend time with the other guest and if you don’t like, or don’t want, to be with others then this is probably not the place for you. During our stay all the other couples were either there for their honeymoon or their anniversary. The honeymooners naturally are on the younger side so expect many of the guests to be in their twenties or early thirties. We had a good mix of anniversary and honeymooners. Everyone had booked their stay based on Trip Advisor so this was almost like a built in screening process – we all had the same expectations.

Excursions: The resort is so fantastic why leave? We went to the beach a few times which is very relaxing. Miles of beach to walk, warm water and a great place to grab drink sna a hammock – Lolas. We also went on the Blue Dolphin catamaran. The day we went on the boat it was very rough with several people getting sick. We also ran out of gas on the way back and had several very drunk college kids get a bit obnoxious. I can’t say I recommend this, but maybe we just had an unusual experience.

I could go on and on, but I think you get the idea. Enjoy, we sure did!

I stayed in Los Altos in February for 2 nights. Based on the reviews I expected Paradise and Los Altos did not let me down. When we arrived we took the journey from the airport where we offered cold beers which we gladly accepted. Upon arrival when we first saw Los Altos, it took our breath away,its beautiful architecture with a fantastic infinity pool gazing over miles of stunning costa rican country side. Our room in my opinion was perfect, a large king size with a balcony and amazing outdoor shower and there was a chilled bottle of wine waiting for us which was a lovely touch.

The breakfasts at Los Altos were delicious as were the lunches and there was plenty of everything. My one negative is that as other posters noted you have breakfast and lunch communally, the people we were there with were very nice but when I go on holidays I like to spend long lunches with my partner alone and sometimes its an effort to mingle! I think for those guests who do have that preference Los Altos should clearly offer at least the option of having lunch on their balcony or in their room (especially if you are staying for a long period). We would have liked to have done that especially on our last day but felt we would be putting them out as it definitely wasn't the done thing.

That is the only negative I have about Los Altos, other then that it was pure paradise. We had the couples sunset massage there and it was wonderful. I don’t think I have ever had dinner in such a romantic setting in my life! I would definitely return to Los Altos but the option of having a private lunch/breakfast would be a nice addition to a truly fantastic place.

I obviously had high expectations. What really struck me was the quality of the service. Professional but very laid back and friendly (and the right kind of friendliness...). Anything was possible... no rush, no rules, no formal check-out time, etc. You can get rides wherever you want, whenever you need.

One time, the chauffeur heard us talk about coffee and Lizano sauce (kind of like chili sauce but not spicy). When we left, they bough us coffee and Lizano sauce.... how sweet!

Food was excellent. Rooms are not huge (unless you take the suite) but everything in it is very high quality (floors, furniture, etc) You won't be spending much time in it... so no need to worry about the lack of TV...

You need to know that this is the kind of place where you will interact with other guests as the place is fairly small (max 10 guests) and dinners are all at the same table, but this is what makes staying at Los Altos de Eros a great all around experience.

With all the food and drinks included, this is a really good value.
