Stayed at Chez Fifi in December 2005, despite my brother's warnings about it. It's the only hotel near the airport, where I had to check in at 0500hrs for an early flight.
I checked in early to make sure I got the "best" available single room and that i didn't have to share it with anyone else. Chez fifi is half someone's private house, and half hotel. The owner's half is Ok. The guests' half is awful.
My room was the sparsest I've ever seen, just a bed, wardrobe and shelf. When I checked in at midday the girl there was OK, friendly enough. I then went out and came back early evening when it was dark. The light bulb had gone in my room and a different girl who had no customer service skills was reluctant to do anything, but eventually fixed it. An old man was also staying there and they wouldn't get matches for him to light the cooker. "Tu parles francais?" I asked the girl after explaining in french what he wanted. "Oui." She said. I thought she maybe didn't speak the language as she certainly didn't acknowledge anything I was saying. A middle aged man in the owner's half of the building lying on his bed started shouting when I knocked on their half to get matches. He was obviously fed up of guests but needed the money. My room had an adjoining shower. A woman was in there from her adjoining room, I could have walked in from my room while she was in there. I knew she was there showering as when I switched a light switch in my room it switched the light off in the shower and she shrieked in the dark! Awful place. Was delighted to leave at 0430hrs!
