Actually, I shouldn't be writing this review, mainly because there will be more attention to the possibility of staying in this part of paradise, but then again - this is a place that despite its very simple setting deserves to be mentioned.
Why just visit One-foot-island on a day tour, when there is an option of actually staying there.
We enjoyed some intense and beautiful days and more spectacular evenings in a very primitive - but charming hut, with what must be the most unspoiled evening views of Aitutaki Lagoon.
The only disruption was the daily boat of tourists that arrived at 11.00 and stayed until 14.00. At the exact time, that our daily feast of fried tuna steak was BBQed by our host, who also was kind enough as to bring food on a need basis.
Despite having a generator and a "fridge", we chose (after one noisy evening) to turn off both and at night time live in the lights of scented candles and the ever so awesome stars of the south pacific.
Don't expect anything from the hut (deserves not even ½ a star), but be prepared to swim away in a tropical paradise all by your self. Location, location. location...
Most of the time there is mobile coverage on the island, at least from the upstairs balcony of the hut. Remember to bring plenty of moskitorepellant and water. And just sit down, relax and enjoy the luxury of secluded-ness in a tropical friendly environment.
Days will just fly!
