My husband and I stayed at the Etu Moana in mid January. We had already been in Rarotonga at the WONDERFUL Royale Takitumu ( Fabulous Place!!!)for 10 days prior to arriving on Aitutaki. The veiws as you come upon the island from the air are beyond words. The various colours of the ocean and lagoon are something you will never forget!!!! As my husband and I departed the plane we were greeted immediately by Teresa. She was so lovely. Her bright smile and friendly manner were just a taste of what was to come. The island is small it only took a few minutes from the airport to get to Etu Moana. The owners Joanne and Jim were there to greet us with a tropical drink. We were led through the amazingly beautiful lush ground to our spectacular villa on the beach. WOW!!!! Everything about our villa was sensational!!! The spaciousand lovely furnished deck was just a peek into what we would be greeted to upon entering the villa. Rich wood flooring throughout with a great kitchen on one side and incredilbe bathroom on the other. All the amenities you could ask ever ask for. There is a back door off the bathroom leading to a private courtyard with an outdoor shower. But it gets better the large king bed is positioned in the middle of the room with double doors so when you wake up in the morning the pristine beach and lagoon are right in front of you. The property has a stunning pool area with an honesty bar (fully stocked) that you can make yourself a drink , get yourself a bottle of wine or make popcorn. Everything you need is there. Each morning they have a lovely breakfast area set up by the pool. You can eat there or bring it back to your room and enjoy it on your private deck. When you want to set out and adventure the island they can make all the arrangements for you. There are some terrific restaurants within a stones throw. Must Do's will on the island...Take a day trip to laggon islands....Well worth the money full day with drinks and tastey buffet style lunch. I don't care where you have been on this planet there is absolutely nothing more DREAMY than the lagoons here. One Foot Island...Honeymoon Islands etc...It is extremely difficult to put into words the colourful crystal clear hues of the lagoons against the powder white sands . I want to say HEAVEN but that might not even do it justice!!!!. If you like fishing...this is the place...If I can catch a 14pound tuna anyone can!!!!! Ask Joanne about Mike's Deep Fishing. Him and his wife are some of the nicest people my husband and I have ever met. They really know their stuff. They take you out very early in the morning (5:30-6:00am). they have refreshments, sandwiches and cookies for your day long trip. When your day is done they will take your catch to a restaurant and have if cooked any way you like..... Take a scooter and head to Samade On The Beach for the afternoon the Lagoon is really nice. They have a decent menu...Do an Island Night while on Aitutaki. Make sure you are ready for the sunsets!!!! Take a glass of wine sit back on a lounge chair by the beach and enjoy!!!! Believe me you will not be disappointed... This is without question the BEST PLACE to stay on Aitutaki It exceeds all expectations!!!!! If you are planning your dream holiday stay at the Royale Takitumu on Raro and the Etu Moana on Aitutaki Enough said....Book It....And Live The Dream!!!! Cheers from Ontario Canada

What can i say about Etu moana that every other guests has not already said. Amazing, paradise, heaven on earth. This place is by far the best hotel i have EVER stayed at.The staff are outstanding, and will organise anything and everything. You really feel like part of the family here at Etu Moana. From the moment you are greeted by Lovey at the airport, followed by Jo-Ann(the owner) greeting you with a hug, you realise you have stepped into a special place. The 8 villas are set out on immaculately manicured gardens. It is so lush and tropical. The villas are spacious, well furnished, marble bathrooms and even a gorgeous outdoor shower for when you return from the beach. The Pool area is great for chilling and cooling off(sometimes its just too hot in the ocean). The beach is stunning. It really is paradise. Sitting under that gorgeous green tree that you see in all the photos is so relaxing. Kakaying out to the buoys and jumping in for a snorkel can pass hours of a day. The waters of aitutaki are so crystal clear that you can see for many meters.
There is a reason Etu moana has won so many awards, simply put it is amazing. Theresa is great for suggesting dinner venues and organising someone to take you. Or even booking a lagoon cruise. Anything you want the girls will gladly help out. The housekeeping staff are wonderful. One morning i was still applying suncream when they wanted to clean our room, and while they were waiting for me to leave they picked me fresh passionfruit. WOW. Look no further. No other property in Aitutaki comes even close( we did stay at another hotel for 2 nights because Etu Moana was booked and it didnt even come close)
It really is the best place i have ever stayed at and i have many memories i will cherish. Great job Jo-Anne, Jim and the Etu Moana team

We spent 4 days at Aitutaki staying at Etu Moana. It was true paradise. The layout of the property was very nice. All bungalows had lagoon view from their decks and allowed for privacy. We were in villa number 8 which was furtherst from the beach but it was still only a few steps to the beach. The garden was lovely and well kept. There were bicycles, kayaks and DVDs to be borrowed.

Etu Moana had an honesty bar where you could get drinks, you just wrote up what you took and then paid at check out. Very convenient.

The owners Jim and Jo-Ann and their staff were really friendly and helpful.

The beach was never crowded and we were often alone. The water was really warm and clear. We did some nice snorkelling.

We went on a lagoon trip with Teking which was really nice. We got to go to 5 different islands and snorkelled on three ocassions. Warmly recommended.

We also had some nice dinners at the Boat shed, Pacific resort and Cafe Tupuna. Go next door to Tuanos and buy some fresh fruit, it tastes wonderful.

Really, it is true - everyone has said all that can be said about this amazing place. The staff are INCREDIBLE - so genuinely interested in making sure you have a great time on their island. Jim and Jo-anne are great hosts and never in-your-face - if you need them, they are there in an instant helping out, but if you want your own space, they sense it and let you enjoy everything on your own.

We were in Villa 5, overlooking the pool with a bit of a lagoon view - it was perfect. The grounds are immaculate - thanks to Jim, Jo-anne, and David who take such great care.

We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and especially the late afternoon pool time with some of the other guests. We met some wonderful couples from the US, Australia, the UK, and New Zealand. Everyone was so friendly and relaxed - it was incredible.

If we could change anything, it would be the beds, which we found a bit uncomfortable. And the check-out options - you might consider an overnight in Rarotonga on your way home, or ask at the Edgewater for a day-use rate and relax until your flight.

You will not go wrong choosing the Etu Moana, but book early, as the wait to get a villa seems to be getting longer! You will LOVE it.

Bob and I were going to go to the the Galapagos and are we ever glad that we didn't! We had a fabulous time relaxing at Etu Moana with Jim and Joanne, David, Lovey and all the superb staff.
The villa was cozy and tropical with a/c and a fan for the warm nights. A covered porch where we spent afternoons reading and sipping cool drinks when we weren't out exploring the island and the lagoon was just the right spot. All the villas have good views and have identical layouts, so it doesn't matter much which one you book.
We explored the island on bikes from the resort, rented scooters from there too and went all over the island and ventured out to Island night at one of the neighbouring resorts and generally discovered as much as we could in a short stay. A broken collarbone on the last day while we were 'off-road' scootering (avoid slippery mud puddles) wasn't too much fun, but thanks to Lovey for coming to pick me up near the top of the island and good basic treatment at the local hospital and I was on my way home with great memories of a fine stay at a very memorable resort.
Joanne will tell you where to eat, so you won't be disappointed with your dinners/lunches out on the island. She even made reservations for dinner for us on our stopover on Rarotonga before our overnight flight to LA which made the long journey done on a full tummy. All terrific and we don't hesitate to recommend Etu Moana to everyone though it's an adult kind of place.
