I stayed in a non-smoking deluxe room on the 5th floor from May 18th to 27th. My room was clean, modern, and spacious. The bathroom had a tub and sink area, a separate large shower, and a separate room with toilet and bidet. The double size beds were on the small side for U.S. guests. My view was Reconquista Street and buildings across from me. My room also included a buffet breakfast which consisted of medialunas and other types of bread, scrambled eggs, sausage, and bacon. There was another table with cold meats, fruits, and juices. The best service for me was the currency exchange/change. It was so convenient to request small bills after visiting the ATM. I was able to request a late check-out because I was a Sol Melia MAS member. The only service lacking was the Concierge. There is no Concierge, only front desk employees who try their best to answer questions/make recommendations.

The hotel is very close to good restaurants, especially Dora, and bars. Also close to Calle Florida for shopping. The area doesn’t have as many people on weekends. There is a Locutorio across from the hotel for cheap Internet and long distance phone calls and a supermercado on the next street. The door man can call a taxi for you anytime.

“Great Service For Economic Price!!!!”

We stayed at the Melia Buenos Aires over Christmas holiday 2006 through the New Year totaling 2 weeks. We were very pleased with the service overall and the price was very economical. Everyone was courteous and responded to our requests promptly. Our only complaint was that the hotel did not notify their international guests that taxi service stops at 9pm on New Years Eve and doesn't start up again until 4 am. Thus, there were dozens of couples in the lobby of the hotel all dressed up to go out for New Year's Eve dinner festivities and waiting 45 mins to an hour to get a taxi. Normally their had been plenty of taxi's available on a daily basis. We thought this was a major oversight when all other service at the hotel had been outstanding, so this situation stood out most. The hotel had thought to advertise their own New Year's Eve Dinner by putting notices under bedrooms doors the night prior, but didnt think to add a note in these notices for those trying to get taxi service on New Year's Eve. Guests could have then made other arrangements like reserving dinner nearby and being prepared to walk to dinner. For the tango shows, the price of transportation was included with the tickets and a bus came to the hotel and picked up these large groups. But, the point is that guests need to be better informed ahead of time to weigh their options. The hotel staff just seemed insensitive in this incidence and took a "Oh, well-that's just the way it is" attitude, which was disappointing with the otherwise great service.

“Excellent stay and fair price”

REally enjoyed 4 nights over St Patricks weekend. This is a business trip so I booked based on price, location and reading reviews. Everything has gone very well. Decided against the Marriott for higher price and worse reviews.
- rooms facing the back in newer section are recommended; this one is more square in size so it feels roomier. Great for a weekend alone on business.
- restaurants are so good in the neighborhood and everywhere.
- brkfst was quite decent in lobby dining room; also optional on 1st floor where it is more private. Did Sunday bkft there.
- I love walking around this city. Parks and Pto Madero are near.
- partying for ST Pats was fun to watch as there are like 10 pubs on this street but my room was shielded. No bad noise at all. Back of hotel is very quiet as there is a rear of an office bldg for my view. THIS is the only bad deal; there is no view even tho I did not come here for that.
- gym/ sauna were great; friendly staff and good equipmt.
- shopping is so close on Calle Florida, :)
Steaks are great at EL ESTABLO.
All goes better if you speak the language, as any traveler knows. That helps me enjoy this great city.

“A Superb Choice”

Melia Buenos Aires

We were a little wary about booking this hotel due its relatively low TripAdvisor ranking and its very low price ($99. b& b). We would have missed a wonderful opportunity had we given heed to our concerns. This hotel is just wonderful! Excellent location right in the heart of the city, great staff, stunning room with every amenity, lotion, potion and super comfortable beds and pillows. The breakfast could not have been better! Lots and lots of fresh fruits, nuts, hot dishes, delicious and huge assortment of breads and cakes and fabulous chocolate chip cookies. This was a terrific choice and we heartily recommend it.
