“Good place”

562 Nogaro Buenos Aires

Los Angeles, CA

This was the best hotel I stayed at in BA. It's not cheap and not for backpackers, but the staff was very helpful, the rooms were nice, the breakfast very good, and the location excellent.

I would recommend this hotel as a good mid-level hotel close to the city center.

“Average hotel with great location”

Hotel has excellent location and, for Argentinian hotel, offers a very good breakfast. The rooms are OK - a little dated but clean. The bad is the service we received on the first night - being placed in a triple room instead of a double room as booked. The guy at the front desk didn't even tell us, never mind apologize for the error. After this incident the service improved. The gym is very basic and there are two computers for internet access downstairs.

“Average, at best, but disappointing overall”

We remember being disappointed with this hotel. The location was very good- quite near the Casa Rosada, metro, etc, but found it overpriced for what it offered. The biggest problem was the bathroom, which was very dated- the bathtub was extremely slow to drain so by the end of the shower I was standing in several inches of water. The staff were happy to relocate us- which we did, but we looked at several rooms before finding one that we liked. We can't say we know of another hotel worth its price ($118 USD) in Buenos Aires, but we will not return to this hotel. This hotel did have a decent breakfast. It had a useful computer with internet access.

“Average”

We stayed in a junior suite at the Nogaro, which was very spacious; howeve I would say our experience was average at best. My advice is book early, as I waited too long, and would have been able to score a better hotel at a lower price, as I watched fo a couple of weeks before booking.

Pros: Great location. A block and a bit away from the main cathederal,
and plaza de mayo. Even better, it is very close to each metro line, however, most would end up taking the line that crosses through Palermo, and Recoletta, passing through Belgrano. Metro closes at 10pm; however it is safe, and really cheap. That being said, so are the cabs. Most of ths area's streets go up or acreoss on a grid system, and ths the Nogaro is situated on a street that cuts diagonally across; whch seems to lend les traffic than others. This makes it fairly quiet, even in the mornings. Rooms are kept fairly clean, and. Breakfast is ok, not the greatest as I think some have reported. Food is pretty cheap outside, so drop by one of hundreds of cafes around town. Our room was pretty big, and I think all have overheight ceilings.

Cons: Rooms are dimly lit. Harwood floors are very creeky, so you can hear all the movement from othre floors. Not great for light sleepers.
Front desk though trying to help are very slow, and not as comptetant as you would expect from even a mid class hotel. Internet, though free
and wireless seem to have a lot of problems, and I gave up using it in
my room often.

On my next trip I'll book earlier, and probably rent an apartment out in the area of Palermo Soho, Recoletta, or Las Canitas instead. I think you can find better deals elsewhere.

Last tip. Don't exchange your money at the exhange places in the baggage area. There is a bank just past the remise (taxi) offices, as you exit, and around the corner to the right. I forgot the name of it but the rates were a lot better there.

“Fantastic value”

562 Nogaro Buenos Aires

Oct 30, 2007

I stayed at the nogaro with 2 friends sharing a triple room before backpacking. The room and hotel had excellent amenities and a fantastic breakfast. Staff were polite and rooms made up everyday etc. The hotel had a lovely 30's feel to it but was bang up to date. The bathroom I had had wonderful fixtures and fittings. Free internet in the basement and so central.

Liked it so much we booked a stay on our way out of BA. The price does not reflect the location of the hotel. $198 US per night (split 3 ways).
A hotel this close to the city centre, in any other capital city would be twice the price!
