Before staying in Nogaro I had stayed in 1555 Malabia House, which I had chosen because of good reviews on trip advisor, and which I loved. So the Nogaro had a lot to live up to, and generally failed. It's a very different type of hotel. The Malabia is small, very friendly service and in a great part of town for bars, restaurants etc. The Nogaro is big, impersonal, and right near the Plaza de Mayo. Although a short walk to the interesting area of San Telmo, this part of town is like the city of London, with a bit of Oxford Street thrown in, and is fairly quiet at weekends. The Malabia is a twenty minute taxi ride away in Palermo, and this is more like the Notting Hill area. I much prefered Palermo. Back to the Nogaro: I stayed during a heatwave (40 degrees) and the air conditioning could not cope. I changed room, but the temperature was still 28 degrees in the room. Although the hotel has had a refit, the bathrooms reminded me of 60s Parisian, and there were lots of niggles: the mini bar did not cool properly, the curtains did not shut, the drains smelt, there were no plugs. I could go on. The staff seemed very overworked, and charmlessly dealt with my concerns. They said that the air conditioning was not working properly, but I think it could not cope. The main redeeming feature for the hotel is that the breakfast was very good. Overall it seemed poor value for money and I'm sure you can do better. I for one will not return!
