“Great location, great facility and superb staff”

We just returned from an incredible week's stay (February 2008) at the Ayres de Recoleta in Buenos Aires. This time of year the temperature hovers in the upper 80s-lower 90s. The cool hotel was a welcome retreat after being out seeing the sights, shopping and dining. The location is perfect. It is centrally located, a safe area with lots of great restaurants, and historical sights (namely the famed cemetary which is right up the street). The view from our balcony at night was great. I had researched for hours before I selected the Ayres de Recoleta. My wife and I were both extremely pleased with the modern facilities and very helpful staff. I felt the price was extremely fair. It isn't a gigantic hotel where you are just another face. The staff was very accomodating. I unfortunately left my cell phone on our incoming flight and the staff made several phone calls in my behalf to help me locate it. When we return to Buenos Aires (which we undoubtedly will) we will return to this hotel.

“Great location, comfortable suites in Recoleta”

This hotel has an outstanding location just a half block from Recoleta cemetary and the numerous restaurants that ring the cemetary. While it is not close to the Subte (subway), that is not a problem as taxis are plentiful and cheap. The suites are spacious and quite modern. We had a problem with water leaking from the air conditioner in our first room, but after a little prodding of the staff, we were moved to another room. The staff was attentive to our needs and questions and even let us check out quite late (4 p.m.) for no extra charge. Breakfast is provided for free about a block away at a cafe. Unlike a previous comment, we found the breakfast to be quite good and typical of Argentina breakfasts: fresh squeezed orange juice, fresh croissants, a little ham and cheese, fruit, and a beverage. You simply cannot go wrong staying at this hotel. We will return.

“chic boutique hotel”

This is overall great place in a good safe area. It was 78 pesos in a car from the airport. The decor is very chic and stylish(see pic). All the artwork is available for sale. The reception desk staff spoke good enough English. They will give you a free map and tell you about any sites if asked. They had 2 high speed internet terminals in their lounge area. I do have 2 negatives about this place that are worth noting: You couldn't adjust the showerhead and it was one of those half glass shower doors. The water sprayed out all over the floor and I slipped and almost smashed my head on the bidet. (which could have been a very unpleasant accident!) Tip: make sure you have plenty of towels on the floor. Second, breakfast is around the corner. I walked in with my voucher and they ignored me so I sat down and they ignored me, so I got up and left and handed the voucher back to the hotel. Either skip the breakfast or pay the extra 5 pesos and they will bring it your room. The hotel should do this for everyone or not offer it all together.

“Ignore the complainers! This place rocked!”

I can't believe the complainers! I have nothing but good things to say about this hotel. First, the room was perfect. Clean and huge! Second, the staff were incredibly friendlily. For the 4 days that we were there, we met about 8 staff members. All went out of their wy to accommodate us. In fact, one reception person spent hours trying to get trough to a restaurant to make a reservation for us.

The breakfast was fine. Nothing wonderful, but certainly enough to get you through to lunch. And yes, it was a block away. Who cares! You should be up and about anyway - there's lots to see in BA!

We spent our first night in BA at the Loi Suites because the Ayres was booked. There is no comparison. The Loi Suites (that everyone raves about) was one of the worst hotels we have ever been. The staff were bitchy, the breakfast room was so crowded we had to wait forever and the place was so noisy, we were up all night.

Kudos to the Ayres - you can't find a better hotel in Recoleta!

“Disappointed in the Recoleta”

Ayres de Recoleta Hotel

I was a bit disappointed by the Ayres and felt the quality was not up to the price. The room was adequate in size but extremely cold. I did not get much of a response to my complaint but did get a second blanket when requested. The staff was a bit stand-offish and, like others have stated, the breakfast around the corner was too far, too slow and not that great. Upon checking in the phone was not working. The next day came a note stating the water would be turned off (although it wasn't). The location is very convenient and safe. The entire Recoleta area is pleasant to walk around and close to museums, etc. The Arnesto Wine shop was excellent. I would try another hotel if I were returning.
