Let me start by saying that this hotel is simply beautiful and worth spending a few days in the area as an alternative to downtown Buenos Aires. San Isidro is a delightful and the hotel is within walking distance of the station (on the line serviced by the Tren de la Costa) where you can catch a train to BA or to Tigre (well worth it, hire a guide and a zodiac @ Tigre station) to tour this fascinating area).
The hotel is a gorgeous old home converted to a small hotel. Staff are pleasant and continental style breakfast was always excellent. They don't have a restaurant but do have a room service menu consisting of choices from a good restaurant just a few doors away. We had an excellent paella one night at the hotel and then visited the restaurant itself another night. There are many restaurants and small shops within 2-5 blocks of the hotel.
We had made the booking directly with the hotel via email. They had been very prompt in answering our emails etc. They also organised a pickup at Ezeiza for us. As we had booked six months prior to travel, I emailed them a few days before we were due to arrive to confirm the pick up and also the fact that we required two single beds. We were duly picked up at EZE but on arrival at the hotel at 6.30 pm, our room was not ready...they had not organised two beds in the room so the room had to be remade up while we waited - not good after a 25 hour trip!
Our room was extremely spacious, comfortable and at the front of the hotel. My advice to any future guests is to request a room at the back of the hotel, as the road outside is paved with bricks and the traffic makes a horrendous noise at night making sleep next to impossible (even with the windows closed!)
The other problem occurred when checking out. Firstly, although we had not touched the mini-bar except to put our own drinks and fruit in the fridge, just about every item had been added to our bill! It was if we had nothing but sit in front of the mini bar and munch for three days! Secondly the room-rate was more than double what had been agreed in the email. Fortunately, we had a copy of the email with us and the desk clerk begrudgingly altered the rate, saying in a very condescending manner that he "would honour that rate". Hello!!!!!!!!!!! The bill ended up HALF of what was originally presented to us which we found really unacceptable. Such a shame, as it really soured our opinion of the establishment and our whole experience there.
