Business serviceLovely rooms and a good location for San Telmo. Our initially excitement was quickly subdued by all the small things that were not right, light bulbs that did not get replaced despite asking 3 times, no plug in bath, staff with limited local knowledge, breakfast that took 30 mins, water in showers that was luke warm, taxi's not booked when asked for, linen that was poor quality, people having breakfast outside our room at 8:30am. You could not fault them for trying, they put champagne in our room, but no ice bucket or fridge, water jug on day one that was never replaced.
Hotel Gurda has the makings of a lovely hotel, but the setup and the staff reminded me of a hostel. We wanted to find a restaurant for New Year, but everywhere seemed closed (BA is not the best city for NY), but the hotel was completely unable to help or recommend anywhere!

ServiceI cannot overstate what a wonderful place this is. Everyone associated with the Gurda Hotel is so nice, welcoming and helpful that you feel as if you are staying in someone's home. My husband and I spent three days here during our honeymoon and wished that we had booked the whole week. The property is gorgeous, too. It is an old mansion that has been renovated into 7 different rooms, each with its own personality. We stayed in the Tango Room (highly recommend it), with bright red walls, vivid artwork and a whirlpool tub. They gave us a bouquet of flowers for our room on the first day and every evening we came home to a room full of candles and a bed covered in rose petals. The Gurda's attention to detail is unsurpassed. And they are just lovely individuals, as well. Carolina helped us out with directions to everything and got us reservations to a fabulous tango show at Cafe Tortoni. Marcos, the property manager, had wonderful advice on what to do in the area. The people are fantastic, the rooms are large yet personal and inviting, and the breakfasts (which are included) are delicious. Plus, San Telmo is a fantastic neighborhood to explore. If you go to Buenos Aires, stay here.

Business serviceMy wife and I stayed at the Gurda for 6 nights late October. The hotel is quite new and modern, it only has 7 or 8 rooms and has a very relaxing atmoshere. Rooms are a bit on the small side but more than adequate and there is a large semi outdoor area where you can spread yourself out and have a relaxing drink. Breakfasts were very good and the rooms were very quiet which in BA is a big bonus - we often slept in after a late nigt out and a good nights sleep. The staff were excellent - young, full of enthusiasm and eager to help, they were also good fun. The area of San Telmo is a bit out of the way however as another review noted you get to see another side of BA. There are good places to eat and it is safe. Make sure you are there on a sunday for the market. Buses into the city were easy to catch and taxis are cheap. All up we were glad we stayed there and would recommend it highly. It was also good value and we booked through the hotel itself.

ServiceMy wife and I stayed at the Gurda for the first week of September, 2007. We are reasonably well-traveled people, and this is quite simply the best hotel experience we have had.
It's a small hotel in San Telmo, a bohemian neighborhood; bohemian, not dangerous. Real Buenos Aires, not Recoleta. Our room (Tango, the rooms have names, not numbers) was large, fun and quirky, with a large Jaccuzi in the room itself. A refreshing shower too, with high pressure and water volume. Price was US$170/night, including tax and breakfast, which was cooked to order, and not a buffet.
The stunning quality of this property was the young staff, professional, competent, and personally delightful, and just plain fun to be around. One of the staff walked us to a restaurant she had recommended because the directions were difficult. I have never had that level of service before.
I recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for an authentic experience of Buenos Aires, with the absolute best of service.
