What an amazing location....

Makes Niagara seem soooo small. I stayed in Puerto Igauzu. Took the local bus out for 2 consecutive days. Really glad I had the extra day as had a much more relaxed pace on day 2. Was able to just sit back and wait for tour groups to pass and thus get some viewpoints almost to myself. Going the second day meant that I saw a lot more wildlife - hummingbirds, crocodile like creatures (forget their name sorry) and so many butterflies.

Did the Jungle Adventure- only pay for the jet boat, a lot of fun. the 4x4 is really boring, and ours crashed into another lorry 'cos their radios weren't working.

I got a taxi to the Brazillian side on the afternoon I first arrived, only took me 2 hours to wander the tracks there. Cost of $150 pesos didn't seem too much given that the taxi driver waited for me whilst I took my time and skipped the queue for me when buying my entry ticket (queue was very long).

Tip: Take lots of water- much cheaper to fill up in town than in the park. On my 2nd day I used my camelback, which was fantasticand meant that I doubled my water intake and felt a lot better for it. I also walked to Garganta falls rather than took the Train, early in morning it's still cool enough to walk, only takes 25 mins and avoids the crowds and queues. Path is a roadway so absolutely flat.

We visited Iguazu falls Jan.18-20th 08. Booked the tour from Buenos Aires through B.A. Private Tours and would gladly recommend them as the Air & Hotel arrangments were good and about 1/3 of the price of a similar tour through our cruise line.

Two of our party had very limited mobility but were still able to view the falls via the train on the Argentinian side and a walk in on an excellent and safe metal trail directly to one of the falls.
Also tried the trip back with a river rafting firm who operate right on the route into the falls. Very sedate and safe but a great experience, they take you right back to the train station for your exit from the park

Would like to have seen the falls from the Brazilian side as well but were put off by the $135 U.S. each visa charge to enter.

Stayed at the Cataras Hotel, this hotel is rated as 5 star and although it may once have been so it is currently about a 3 star. Having said this however it is a very comfortable place to stay and the food is great. The other highlight is the pool area which in the heat of this area is most welcome.

Iguazu Falls in Argentina was a great experience. The Falls are magnificent and hiking the trails to view the Falls was great. We took the Gran Aventura Green Passport tour and thoroughly enjoyed it. The 1st part of the tour is riding in a big 4X4 truck through a jungle (didn't see much), but next you take a powerboat up the river through rapids and actually go under the Falls. This was thrilling. The 3rd part was a paddle raft down an estuary and we saw a fair amount of wildlife (cayman, spiders, birds).
Staying at the Sheraton inside the Park was expensive, but generally worth it for the convenience.

Amazing place - just spectacular! We stayed at the Sheraton on the Argentine side and had a great view of the falls and a Toucan (a rare sight thanks to the helicopters!).

Take the tour through the jungle to the river and get one of the boats to the base of the falls - it's just amazing to see them that way and you get a lovely walk back. Don't cover up - just soak up the water - you'll get soaked but it feels amazing...maid of the mist has nothing on this!

Popped over to Brazil for the day - hired a driver which was pretty good value and gave us loads of time to explore.

Iguazu is a must see....can;t wait to take my little girl when she's old enough, just hope it doesn't get any more commercial and suffer the way Niagara has.

What an amazing place... It is well worth making sure you see the falls on both the Argentine side and the Brazilian side. There is loads to do and see. Everytime you move the falls look different.
