Stayed at the Elan for 3 nights from Oct 9-Oct 12. New property that they said just opened Dec 2006. Service was great and everyone was v nice and helpful though if you don't have any Spanish skills it might be tough. There was 1 person who spoke English and everyone else knew some a little.
The rooms were basic and clean. Lobby had 3 computers with free internet though when we were there only 1 of the 3 computers could connect to the internet. There was free wireless in the lobby. There is also a pool table, 2 flat screens in the lobby and a library of DVDs for guest to watch. Gym consisted of what looked like a home treadmill, bike and stairmaster - no weights. We didn't see anyone ever use the gym. B'fast was included and actually included scrambled eggs and bacon which we loved. Also had assorted breads, cereal, meats, cheeses, etc. We were v happy with the b'fast. Got the box lunch one day when we went on the Big Ice tour and did not think that it was v good.
Biggest complaint would be the key cards to enter your room. They NEVER worked even after they gave us new key cards. I would say 1 out of every 3 times we had to go to the front desk to get them to let us in and the door NEVER opened on the first try.
One thing that confused me about this place was that everyone working there was young (but v friendly and helpful) and seemed to ALWAYS be there. The same guy at the front desk at 11pm will be at the front desk at 7am the nxt morning. And the manager who was the only one who spoke fluent English was ALWAYS there. We started to think that they actually lived at the Elan.
Its located about 2kms out of town so you always have to take taxis but its great if you are going on any of the tours for the glaciers since you will be the last to picked up and the first to get dropped off.
