“Everything a bit half hearted”

Isla Caribe Beach Hotel

Over all not a bad place, I`ve stayed in worse, but they could do better, as I said all a bit half hearted. No cups at breakfast, bread runs out. Drinks run out at the bars, blenders for drinks do not work, rooms a bit damp, beach bar seems to close when they feel like it, about 4pm instead of 5pm ,only about 10 umbrellas for 250 rooms, birds allowed to fly freely around the food.
On the plus side the pool is nice but be careful my son needed four stitches after cutting his foot on a broken light in the pool.
We went with first choice with the main aim being a visit to Angel Falls but this got cancelled due to bad weather, and you only have one chance to go during a two week stay so we missed out, so don`t pin all your hopes on this trip, plus you do not get a full refund if its cancelled. We did do the delta part of the trip, and i have to say i loved every minute of it , I could have stayed there for a week, wildlife is amazing, got stranded in the airport for over 11 hours on the second day instead of going to Angel falls.
Final warning !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had my debit card cloned whilst there when trying to get money out of an ATM, please be very careful. In fact do not use any ATMS go in Sambil and go to a teller in the bank if you need money.

“Great holiday, highly recommended, dont listen to the boring moaners !!!”

Isla Caribe Beach Hotel

Just returned today from 2 weeks at the Caribe Beach Hotel and it was lovely.

The flight was really good, legroom a definate plus and onboard entertainment tv ans games very good e.t.c. Customs and luggage reclaim was fine, took a little longer than in our own airports but expected when you go away to a small airport when your flight is the only one of the day !

Were given drinks when we got onto the coach, quick transfer, then were greeted with dancers and more drinks (much needed as the heat is sooo intense). Very efficient reception staff, some know good english. Our room was really nice and spacious, massive bed !! We had a sea-view and a nice balcony. Air-con was a god send and really good, also a good little fridge and tv with good english channels if you fancied an early night.

The food is good, a little repetitive for 2 weeks, but each night is themed so a little variety, but nothing to moan about. We ate out a few nights and got a taxi to some local recommended restaurants which was not to expensive and a nice change. The a la carte restaurants are a definate must, the Mexican is amazing with the nachos and fajitas ummm !!

Staff are everywhere, always topping up your drinks and getting anything you need ! All the bars served yummy cocktails, but be warned there measures of spirits are free pour so drinks are very very strong ! (Learned this courtesy of my partner who had a few too many after only having a couple of these 'strong' cocktails !!)

Reps are really nice Carlos and Anna, always there if you need them, booked two trips with them the Jeep Safari and The Lost Island of Cubaga (a must for the mud bath). Good value for money, but please please please take a high factor, i brought 2 big nivea bottles of factor 50+ sun lotion and we ran out after the week and i still burned really bad after the boat trip and just walking down the beach. You dont think its as hot as it is, but the heat is so intense. Definately get a sun bed in the shade !! Which are few, so towels need to go down in the morning to ensure best place !

Entertainment is good, you can do scuba diving, jet skiing, massages on the beach, aqua aerobics, volleyball, waterpolo, ping-pong, pool, tennis. Lots of things to do, so your never bored.

Overall we had a brillant holiday, you make it what it is, people that moan and have wrote bad reviews obviously havent got an open mind and expect the world. Good value for money for what you pay, nice holiday, nice resort and people and definately would recommend.

I would go back any day, me and my partner really enjoyed ourselves, got a good tan, relaxed by the amazing pool. You will have a great time !!!

went first 2 wks of july 2008 just before the busy season. first wk the president was staying over at one of the posh hotels so all the police and emergency services stayed at our hotel so the dineing area was always full of them and so kept running out of plates and cups, it was more like a works canteen than a hotel.

so we where glad when they all went on our second wk. tthe food is the only thing to moan about really its not that good, not much choice cause its only a small hotel. but u will probably find sumthing u will like if not theres always a burger but no chips.

the a la cart restaurant is really nice . but u can only use it once a wk. the food is the same all the time but that dont matter cause the food is fantastic shame u cant use it everyday. but if theres a conference on they use that room so the second wk adidas was there so we had to go on the beach front and have our a la cart there . they can only cater for 25 people (god knows why)so try and book your a la cart early otherwise u will be disapointed.

book your trips with the rep (sandra) by debit or credit card the trips are alot cheaper that way. dont take travelers chqs take dollers and change them to there currency when u get there better deals.

there is always only one person servein behind both reception and pool bar so can take a while to get served, be warned the machine they make cocktails in brakes quite alot so sometimes u wont be able to have wat u want.

after all this dont worry cause u could of been booked into hotel nextdoor and that is a hole. go have a look.

Nice hotel situated by a fishing village in a upspoilt area, friendly staff, good food ,two open air resturants and one inside which you had to book for. We had a good room with sea and mountain views a 6ft wide bed and wet room. Every where in the hotel was kept very clean, even the outside sun umbrellas covers were taken down in the 2 weeks we were there to be replaced and washed. The entertainment was a open air dance show every night in the next door lesser star hotel,Ok if you liked that sort of thing. There was a Disco situated on the beach and opened at 11pm a nice place to be a night.
The down side was if you wanted a sun bed and umbrella you had to be up at 5.30am (umbrella important as very hot) just a sun bed around 6am after that nothing left. The sea was very rough not suitable for swimming, there was a life guard on the hotel beach as the current was very strong and he kept a i on people wadeing out to far. We had heard on another local beach we visited that a couple of people had been swept away and unfortunetly one did not survive. We did walk out through the village to other beaches in the area with no worries but we did hear of people afterwards that had been mugged for obvious jewellery they were wearing, so do not wear obvious bits as the people there are quite poor. Do not go to the English so called resturant close by(recommend by the First Choice rep)..the food was very over priced, poorly presented and the wine a rip off not great service either or location. We should have realised when we arrived after booking on a Saturday night and no one was there. We did however enjoy our stay but not the getting up so early to get a sun bed, so never again at this hotel for that reason. We paid extra to upgrade to Premier on the flight which we think is worth it.

“Lovely Hotel - Clean, modern, Friendly Staff”

Isla Caribe Beach Hotel

The hotel has a really modern and clean feel when you arrive, with seemingly a staff member for every conceivable task, keeping it looking great 24/7. The rooms are large and well air-conditioned, and cleaned to a high standard each day with fresh towells. Although I wouldn't recommend it, we didn't rent a safe in the room and never had any problems with missing items. I found the staff all very friendly, especially if you make the effort to speak a little spanish! The food was much better than I imagined, with a wide selection each day and great salads and fruit (which were alll safe to eat). The pool was always clean, although there was sometimes a shortage of sunloungers. The clientelle was a European mixture mainly of German, Dutch and Scandinavian, and there was always a friendly atmosphere about the place, with everyone getting on. The beach, where you generally always get a sunlounger with parasol (especially reserved for hotel guests) was nice, but if you thought about snorkelling in crystal waters, forget it. The waves break quite high, which is great for body boarding or surfing, but tends to churn up the sand making visibility next to nothing. So far as trips go, I can recommend the 2 day excursion to the Orinoco Delta and Caniama National Park in Venezuela. The 2 day excursion which we booked through our First Choice rep was way over and above my expectations. It was also competitively priced compared to the local vendors too (which surprised me). You were pisked up from your hotel at around 6am and taken to Polormar airport for the hour's flight to Maturin airport in Venezuela. From here, there was an hour's trip on an air conditioned coach to a river on the edge of the rainforest. From here, we had a really great 2 hour speedboat trip downstream through the dense rainforest, where we saw all manner of wildlife including monkeys, freshwater turtles and various birds and plantlife. We then arrived at camp which consisted of wooden huts with thatched roofs and a ceiling fan in place of airconditioning. Those who wanted to were then able to kayak in down the river for around half an hour, before joining the main boats again for some piranah fishing! Using raw beef, we saw quite a few of these getting caught (although not by me!) Then it was back to camp for dinner, and an early night due to the 5am start the following day. Back up the river for 2 hours on the boat, then back to Maturin airport on the coach saw us leave on the plane for Canaima National Park, where a number of films such as Jurassic Park and Last of the Mohecans was filmed. After walking for 120metres behind a massive waterfall, you just couldn't get any wetter, but a very unique experience makes it worth it! Provided the weather is clear when the plane takes off to take you home, you will be flown through the Canyons leading to Angel Falls, the tallest waterfall in the world. This alone made the trip worthwhile, as it's a sight unrivalled by anywhere else in the world....truly fantastic! I could go on and on about this trip, and indeed the rest of the holiday, but I'll sum up by saying that you'll have a great time if you decide to go to Margarita, but also take advantage of the excursions when you're there, as who knows when you'll be back in that part of the world!
