We have a vacation club at Victorian House which we purchased in 2005. We have been there 3 times now and each time there are more improvements. We have upgraded to Lifestyle Holidays which offers a greater choice. We were advised that they are going to improve te resort and create VIP areas for members and build more rooms at the end of Victorian House. It would be a shame to spoil the natural beauty of the resort with the VIP areas that we experienced at Hacienda but would make Victorian House quite an ideal place to holiday. Giving the best of the Dominican Republic complexes combined with the freedom to walk into the village. The Resort was not busy during the week but was at the weekend with dominicans arriving for the weekend. We did not witness anything other that people having fun and it was mainly families with children who spent most of the day in the pool and at the beach. This is the best time to book the restaurant to avoid the queues in the buffet. The staff continue to be very friendly and the rooms were cleaned regularly and the towels continue to be changed 2x daily and your bed turned down in the evening. There are a number of Lifestyle people attempting to sell the vacation club but don't bother you too much. If you are interested you can get a reasonable deal compared with the costs in Europe. Just don't agree the initial price because they will reduce the price if you persist in saying it is too expensive.

Just arrived home from a fab two weeks in Sosua Bay Hotel. After reading many of the reveiws and seeing photo's posted by others we were very worried about our choice of resort and hotel, But all i can say is that you must not beleive all that you read and see as many improvements have been made since these photos were taken. The hotel is only a 15minute bus ride from the airport, so within an hour you can be by one of the pools with a pina colada in your hand. We found all the staff very helpful and friendly and if you make an effort to try a little spanish on them they will make your stay as memorable as ours. The room was good and was cleaned every day with the fridge restocked with beer, water, 7up and pepsi. But you wont wanna spend much time in the room as the pools are great fun and they also are cleaned every day. The buffet restaurant food was good and always very well presented with a good variation every meal. El patio mexican resaurant is awesome as are Sabatini's italian and Marco Polo Sushi. We tried them all and had very nice meals every time. The shows that we watched were great fun and the anamacion team do a fantastic job given their limited resources. As for the comments about brothels and prostitution, they must have all gone on holiday while we were there as we saw no obvious signs of this in the hotel at all. The time share guys just want the chance to tell you all about the benefits of buying from them and once they are given that chance they leave you alone. We also agree with thomas9mm if you don't enjoy youself here you are probably a snob. And finally if we were asked about returning it would be a definate YES.

we just returned from our honeymoon. We stayed for 5 days and loved every minute of it. Anyone who cannot enjoy this hotel is a snob. The room was cleaned everyday,we never had a problem with the shower,the fridge was stocked with the exception of one day because we still had drinks in the fridge. The staff was helpful and friendly and more than willing to help us out, including the woman. The pool area was cleaned everyday, and the pool bar was open if you were polite and willing to tip once in awhile. The buffet offered alot of the same food but was very good. Sabitinis was awesome, Try the chicken cordon bleu. Drank the water and did not experience travel poop. The drinks ata the bar were not watered down,sometimes they were so strong we couldnt finish them. We feel that the shows were entertaining,definetely not broadway, but its a hotel show. Ricki of the entertaiment staff was very friendly,made us feel very welcome. The time share people dont bother you if you just give them 5 minutes of your time. We found our stay very pleasant,met alot of nice people from other countries, and we are going back to this hotel next year for sure. If you expect five star remember you are in a 3rd world country. To them this is five star. And remember you are living on dominican time and it can be very slow, so be patient, and have fun. Relax and enjoy.

Just returned from a two week holiday in the Sosua Bay Hotel and have just had to make a formal complaint to the senior customer service manager at thomsons.

I went with my boyfriend and we found we were effectively staying in a 4* brothel - this hotel is not worthy of a 4* rating - very poor and unvaried entertainment and a particularly dirty swimming pool. Not only that but prostitutes were allowed to come into this hotel - they were even allocated rooms to use with men!. When we brought this up with the manager she told us it was hotel policy as they would lose a lot of money if they didn't let them in. Another manager also accused us of being racist as the prostitutes were black women and told us to 'like it or lump it'

The only positive thing about this hotel was that the male staff were extremely pleasant, funny and always willing to chat and joke with us. The women on the other hand were miserable 24-7 - even when leading the shambles of a 'kids disco' which consisted of two songs.

This hotel is advertised as a family hotel with something to do for everyone. I would strongly advise anyone thinking of going to this hotel to change their minds. This is definately not a family hotel. We met a family while we were there and their son was bored for the whole two weeks as there was nothing for him to do. Not only is there nothing for children to do but we witnessed prostitutes kissing in the swimming pool.
