I thought that Petra would be impressive, but I was wrong; It was amazing! The entry through the Siq and the Treasury would be enough, but the scope of the site is so much more than just those two areas. My wife and I rented a car from the Amman airport and drove to the Crowne Plaza in Wadi Musa in a few hours. The hotel overlooks the mountains that conceal the site and is blended into the side of the hill. The entrance to Petra is about 100 yards from the hotel.
The hotel was nice, but not luxurious, with several dining areas including an outdoor patio and pool, overlooking the mountains. Since the hotel is geared for tour groups, comprehensive buffets are available for all meals. However, these are expensive if not included in the room rate. Ala carte dining, at moderate prices, could be obtained through room service. The room was good-sized with a queen bed, table/chairs and patio.
The cost of the room was low and the location unbeatable. For those traveling to Petra, the Crowne Plaza provides all the amenities required for an enjoyable stay.
