“Newly renovated ... 20 years ago!”
I was traveling with my wife and son on our way from Kings Canyon to the pacific coast. I booked this hotel via the super 8 site because it claimed "newly renovated rooms" and mini suites with sleeper sofas.
Even minutes before we actually arrived, I became sceptic. The neighboorhood is not a good one. Once we were there, it was terrible. The rooms might have been "newly renovated", but that was 20 years ago. The mini suites was just what other super 8's call a regular room with a very small sleeper sofa in it. All this for a really high price. Plus, you hear the nearby trains. The usual super 8 breakfast was also not really usable. During our stay, the spot seemed to be used mainly by utility workes, which, I assume, paid much less than we did.
Conclusion: a rip-off. I'd avoid it at all costs when I am next in the area. The super 8 on highway 99 might be a better alternative (at least the neighborhood looks better). We stayed just because we were to lazy to get into "big complaint mode" for the night..
